2009 Ninja 250R, India is waiting…
At 2008 Autoexpo, Bajaj Auto’s pavilion was buzzing with activity as Bajaj Auto decided to display motorcycles from not only its own stable, but also from Kawasaki and KTM. One bike in particular which caught almost every one’s attention was the Kawasaki Ninja 250R, adoringly called, Baby Ninja.
As Kawasaki announces the arrival of 2009 Ninja 250R in US, we are left wondering, when will biking enthusiasts in India get to ride one of these?
The lightweight baby Ninja has Supersport styling, rider-friendly engine, real world performance and an amiable chassis. Perfect recipe for a fun motorcycle which can be used daily, doesn’t burn a large hole in the pocket (comparatively speaking) and yet has enough power to put every motorcycle in India (barring Yamaha R1 and MT01) to shame.
With an expected price tag of 2-3 lakh rupees, it might just have been the performance motorcycle Indian motorcycling enthusiasts were yearning for. And it would have been perfectly positioned between the gap that exists between Indian made motorcycles and imports (1.10L – 11L).
Yet, 10 months after the Autoexpo 2008 got over, we are left wondering, when will Bajaj Auto launch the baby ninja in India. All we can do for now is to pray that it does get launched soon with an attractive price tag and look longingly at its photographs.

hey all
I think that this bike will not be launched before Diwali coz they can attract customers by giving special Diwali offers with a lauch of its new bike. I think we all should wait coz I think keeping patience will be good and I think we should get used to it coz its bajaj not yamaha that launches its bike the time they say. Bajaj will make you wait until you get pissed off.
So guys just 2-3 months more and then you’ll be riding your beauties…..
BAJAJ has already launched pulsar 220,yamaha also launchaed fz 16.what’s next yaar. the gorgeous ninja.i think it will create it’s own market in india.

hey yall….i read this thread from the top and man i can tell ya that you guys have gone gaga over this bike…. Its a true beauty and deserves 2l…but not more than that….but the sadder news is that the mo’ fuckers in bajaj never stick to their promise…and even if they do release ve bike, its gona be in 2010 or later…they first unveiled the pulsar 220dtsi in 2003 and it was finally released just a few years ago….its the same case with this bike too…trust me…this bike wont be out till fall next year!!!…so YOU MIGHT AS WELL IMPORT The HONDA CBR~400 FROM srilanka, THE MRP PLUS THE 63% CUSTOMS DUTY WILL GET YOU THE BEAUTY FOR 2.1L..
itz cost iz rs. 2.5lakhs but average wise itz a waste..according 2 me r15 is a gud choice will i hve purchsed recently

price is tooooooooooooooooooo high yar……………..
could you please guy tell me how much custom duty to import used motorbike?i live in japan and here used motorbikes really very cheap so i wanna bring one.thanx in advance
I remember reading somewhere that the customs duty on an imported bike is 63% when the bike is imported from srilanka…i recon the charges are different for different countries…may be you should visit a showroom in your locality …theyl help you out…
i also agree upon what manash Says …i recently read the tech aspects of the r15…its the most technologically advanced motorcycle in production in india!
Ever postponing dates is the feature of bike launches in India. It is always in ‘About to be launched’ state. 2008 going to 2009, may 2009, july 2009, now november 2009…and the list will go on.
I am wondering when will the manufacturers like Yamaha and Bajaj understand that what we need is something bigger than the same old 150 cc and also what we need is not a look as ugly as that of Pulsar 220.
With this, I hope it doesnt take a decade for the launch of the specified bike.
-Ashutosh
This is ridiculously too long to wait for this bike.
Guys, hope you know there are many RTO issues related to powerful bikes. If u all had noticed, Pulsar 220 got so delayed because of its high speed. Its difficult to get RTO approval for higher cc bikes.
OR BAJAJ is waiting for HH or YAMAHA to launch their higher cc bikes and then this baby NINJA would be the ANSWER to those.
called up Pune probiking showroom, they confirmed that ninja is coming in Sept end or Oct max.
Price around 2.30 – 2.50 lac
please let us know the exact date of launch of the ninja as we r waiting for it since news about it’s coming to india came out.please u guys please help us
KAWASAKI NINJA 250R IS THE MOST POPULAR & VALUABLE BIKE 2009 ALL AROUND THE WORLD BEATING COMPETITORS LIKE HARLEY DAVIDSON, YAMAHA, SUZUKI, HONDA, DUCATI, BMW AND MANY MORE PERFORMANCE BIKES.

Guys, I recently visited the Bajaj Probiking and they have confirmed that it will be launched before DIWALI this year but the sad news is that it will cost around 2.5 Laks.
I have checked out at probiking showroom at Pune. its now confirmed the launch is just round the corner. The walls at the showroom are plastered with ninja’s full size posters. Guess the long wait is finally over and time to zip the roads….
hey all,
i’m waiting for ninja frm 2008. n yet it’s like no nthin…?
whts wrong wid bajaj…??
according to u.s. price it should be around 1.5 to 1.7 lack ex. show room.
really it’s been too long.
just waitin n waitin . wht to do yaaro…??
Ravi you are forgetting the 100+ percent import duty, which is levied on imported motorcycles and would surely be factored in, in the price.
But y didn’t they get it in CKD(knocked down). they’d have saved a lot money.
com on dude……….? when? when? when? is this ninja releasing its been a year n half and everyone is waiting for this bike? what is the actual plan of bajaj…….? they are just saying it in words and not in reality? when is ninja250r launching? reply

what the f@ck is this, 3 lac on road. too expensive yaar
Great…. now we have ” The Fastest Thai in India” ? I would prefer 500cc bullet for 1.2 lkh
On road price is too expensive
@ suyesh
@ Karan
Please realize that this is an actual sports bike…not a faux iteration like FZ or ZMR or R15…and with import duties, such machines will bring smiles to only the people with deep pockets…if you really love bikes then respect the tech performance and not the price.
I feel R15 is also too expensive for its performance parameters, but still people love it. For my type moderate erning person, in present world, P220 is enough to begin RACING ! Ninja & R1s & Busas are GODs !
Ya anuj you r right. It was my dream to own such bike, since its speculated price was around 2 lac and I was ready with money but sudden increase in price about 1 lac made me feel like disappointed…
its not worth 2.70lac its better to buy pulsar 220 or r15 which is worth for money . its just paying more for the name than for the machine ur buying .
please dont buy this bike…
its waste of money…
yaa its nt worth 2.7 lac too much money like pulser r15…….vignesh ur rite dnt buy this garwage bike,,,
