Bajaj Discover 150cc DTS-i launched

Bajaj Auto has launched the Discover 150 DTS-i motorcycle today with the tagline, “more excitement per liter”.

Bajaj Discover 150 DTS-i is powered by a brand new 144.8cc 4st engine (149.01cc in case of Pulsar 150), which manages to produce 13bhp @ 7500rpm (14.09bhp @ 8500rpm for Pulsar 150) and 12.75Nm of peak torque at 5500rpm, which comes in a whole thousand revs earlier than similar torque figure of the Pulsar 150 DTS-i.

All this in package which weighs in at a mere 121kilos and you are looking at a light and powerful commuter with enough power for some fun and spirited riding around town, much like the new Pulsar 135LS, which has been quite a hit since its launch late last year.

Icing on the cake is the price, Bajaj Discover 150 DTS-I is priced at Rs. 46,000 (Ex-Showroom Delhi), which is cheaper than any other 150cc motorcycle and to top it all, Bajaj Auto is claiming 65kmpl average for this little wonder, which would soon be available in showrooms across India.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. S. Sridhar, CEO Two Wheeler Bajaj Auto said, “Discover 100 took market by a storm with its launch last July. In this short span of time the Discover 100 is already one of the largest selling models in the motorcycle market with current volumes averaging 75,000 pm. With the new Discover 150, we are instilling a fresh momentum and adding riding excitement to the overall Discover portfolio.” He further added that the new Discover is all set to be a pleasure to the commuter’s pocket both in terms of purchase as well as operating cost.

Although we have never been fan of commuter motorcycles and looking at stats like 8 liter petrol tank and strictly bare and commuter styling doesn’t gets us existed, but we believe this is a motorcycle which has the potential of changing game and would find plenty of takers and should be quite fun to ride.
