Kawasaki has today formally reentered the Indian Motorcycle Market by setting up its Indian Subsidiary called India Kawasaki Motors Pvt. Ltd. (IKM) in Pune, India.
India Kawasaki Motors is planning to launch several large capacity Supersport, Sport and Cruiser motorcycles in India and has set a target of selling 1000 Kawasaki Motorcycles in India in 2010. Currently only the Kawasaki Ninja 250R is being sold in India through Bajaj Auto’s Pro Biking Outlets.
While the India Kawasaki Motors would continue to sell motorcycles through Bajaj Auto’s Pro Biking outlets, it would also be assembling Completely Knock Down kits (CKDs) at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan Plant and selling them alongside fully imported motorcycles.
To establish its operations in India, Kawasaki is planning to invest 5 crore rupees over a period of time.
