Mahindra 2 wheelers to launch motorcycles

Speaking to the reporters, Vice-President, sales and customer care, Mahindra 2 wheelers, Mr. Sanjiv Mittal said the company was working on motorcycle models and the first one would be launched in 2010.
While the erstwhile Kinetic Motor Company Ltd. did have a few motorcycle models in its portfolio and even imported Hyosung Comet and Aquila motorcycles, since the takeover last year, Mahindra 2 Wheelers had only kept scooters in its portfolio
Its an excellent news! now we will be able to see some new international bike models from Mahindra and its international alliance SYM.

Good news indeed. I think Mahindra should rethink, replan, and rework on the big 5 of erstwhile Kinetic: Comet, Aquila, GF170/Lazer, GF125, and Blaze.
Agreed there were some shortcomings and mismatches (for Indian Market & Consumers), but there were sturdier and powerful products. It was the half-hearted commitment of Kinetic and its irresponsible dealers were to be blamed for the consumers lukewarm response for these products. Had Kinetic not shown their classic knee-jerk reaction, and concentrated in improving these products, Kinetic would have been still there today. Though the timing was wrong when Kinetic introduced (ahead of time, in fact), if one adds more comfort and retune the engines for more power & milege, they would kill the competition considering the brand image Mahindra has (which wasn’t the case with Kinetic).
Again, I believe, Mahindra needs to be a little agressive and re-introduce these Macho Machines (Wow, ‘Mahindra Macho Motorbikes’ – sounds good, eh?)
