Suzuki GS150R features, specifications and photographs

Written by: Yogesh October 31st, 2008

Suzuki Motorcycle had launched the all new GS150R in India on the 23rd of October (press release of the launch), it is latest entrant in the very competitive 150cc segment and brings to the table a fresh look and a new 150cc four stroke engine with six gears (the only motorcycle in India to support it after the Yamaha R15 and RD350).

Suzuki GS150R Features:

150cc Engine with a new design: The 150cc engine of GS150R has been designed with a focus on acceleration performance in the low-to-mid range speed, which is most important in city riding. This ensures that you always enjoy a smooth, comfortable ride with the new Suzuki GS150R.

Engine balancer technology: In other motorcycles, vibration generated from inside the engine by the vertical motion (inertial force) of the piston and rotating motion (centrifugal force) of the crankshaft, is transmitted through the handlebars, seat and footpegs to the rider. The engine balancer technology in Suzuki GS150R seeks to minimize such vibration in order to deliver a more comfortable riding experience. Moreover, the balancer system is quipped with balancer-driven gear fitted with a rubber damper for reducing the impact noise generated by its meshing with the balancer-driven- gear.

Digital Speedometer with dual modes: Presenting the world’s first eco-mode-equipped rpm indicator. The unique GSX-R-inspired engine rpm indicator glows to give an indication to the rider about the optimum up-shift timings. The latest unit features a new, selectable two-mode (Eco & Power) function to cater to a wide range of riding needs and conditions.

Sporty Style Headlight: The stunning powerful headlight of GS150R with built-in positioning light is inspired from Suzuki’s international Superbike GSX-R. it has been designed to give GS150R a very distinct look.

LED Tail Lamp & Integrated Rear Turn Signal: The super-sleek, streamlined aerodynamic shaped LED tail lamp and integrated rear turn signals based on the styling of GSX-R takes the style quotient to the next level.

  2. Hi well i guess suzuki is trying its level best to come up well it is good every dog has its day. A good work done by them still the test ride is due from my side. Well the bike looks good espica… with the graphic design and the stunning looks well the engine is still to be checked.

The meter is also good nice pictures though. I like them thanks a ton for reveling them here.

rest when the test ride is done then i will give my correct openion on this. Till then all the best.

  3. SPORTY STYLE

  4. hi,
its unik byke, becouse in all bykes between earlier lounched diffrentiate by its some feature like.. its front is so beautyful as well as back light with 6 gear.

i think India me suzuki motorcycle ke acche din aane wale hai.\

    thankyou.

  5. looks nw suzuki ne kuchh sikh le li hai …
aur its good to see a feature packed bike frm them ….
shayad ab shaolin ke tarh ye bhi ..kuchh naye parameters dalegi ..
kuchh der se hi sahi …
    but suzuki is back ..

  6. I took test ride of GS150R today and here is my view on this bike.

It looks a macho with older design. Sit is very broad as compared to any other bike in same segment. And yes, you don’t have to lean when you ride it, but you need to move your legs backward for shifting gears and for applying brakes. Gear-box is super smooth. Engine is good but little noisy. It is not most powerful but still its good. It has got six gears, it city you may need to work for gears much.

Speedo Console is having indicator for economy and power mode and it shows current gear also. In city, it should give 45-50 kmpl.

Overall it does not seem to be very special but it should do well against Yamaha’s FZ-16. But GS150R may find it difficult to compete with existing bikes in 150CC segment like Pulsar, Unicorn which already have proved itself.

  7. ITS STUNNING

  8. i think this will outrun yamaha fz16 due to six speed gears…I will get this bike soon.

  9. Hi, just by looking into pictures one can not predict efficiency, economy and performance of a bike. I think there should be a clear tabular comparison between bikes like pulsar, unicorn, apache and gs150r then only the picture will be more clear. Ok.

  10. when is this bike going to launch ?

  11. what is its milage

  12. Again Suzuki is cheating India..This bike is nowhere compared to TVS Apache RTR… Alloy wheels and rear view mirrors are same old which are available in Zeus.. same old grab rail (no 2 piece unit), No Mono Shox.. No rear disc.. only 6 speed gearbox seems to be plus point.. And Speedo console is okay .. After RTR and Yamaha R15 and FZ16, we expect much more from Suzuki but this is disappointing…

  13. I dont think Suzuki has learnt lessons from past mistakes.. Yamaha is now comming up with some excellent products and somehow Honda too (See the CBF stunner).. otherwise all these Japanese companies were throwing outdated models to India.. They Should learn from Bajaj and TVS.. 149 cc and 13.8bhp engine from Suzuki ?? so sad..and that too with dated looks (except for headlamp unit) ..performance wise it might be good but still cant compete with RTR 160 or FZ16 .. Open your eyes Suzuki motors..

  14. Bravo suzuki, for digging your own grave .Its zeus with 6 speeed gears with 57mm pistons in over bored 125cc engine.13.8BHP is a real world record. It will follow unicorn soon in sales figures take my word for it, yes big banners regarding booookings open at all showrooms. its not even worth the second look (my honest impression)
    Bye

  15. it is so good, because of its styli headlamp….

  16. I agree with Getto, Bravo Suzuki… What an achivement !!! 149 cc/13.8 bhp bike? GS150R looks simple commuter bike (and it is) so what is use of 6th gear which is useless in city riding? We will right away throw your outdated model…please pack your bags and dump your Heat, Zeus and GS150R in Arabian sea..

  17. As everyone say…”The lights look good and 6 speed gearbox is appreciated”…and I agree BUT everything else is just the same old trash I see everywhere. At least some power would have been welcome. I own a Unicorn and was thinking of getting a good bike but then I dont see a better bike than mine and so I plan to stick with my old bike and wait for some good ones to com out.

  18. Utter rubbish. This does not deserve to be launched anywhere. Let alone India. The new Yamaha is much better and it will rule the Indian street. just wait and see. I own a Unicorn and I’m looking to sell it to get hold of an fz16.

  19. guys i have taken a test drive of GS150R it is really a wonderfull bike, though it seems to be less powerfull as compared to fz but it is definetly economical with respect to average and and the price of bike fz nearly goes in the house of 70,000+, where as GS150r is in the range of 65,000-67,0000 (on road price), also its will definetly give milage atleast 2-3kmpl more than FZ , and the sommothness is almost 20%-25% more than FZ and other bike , i think it is even smoother than unicorn, gear box is like butter, according to me only power and look is not important also the comfort and feeling while riding is important. the bike is surely giving more smoother ride than other bikes. according to me it will surely hit the market.i suggest friends take a test drive and than leave a comment., expecting the reply on this comment from a guy who had taken a test drive.

  20. hi guys, nicks here, i had my hands on dis new suzuki n actually gave the m/c a good workout, the features i noticed
1.the digi console n outstanding, includes power, economy mode warnings, also has a clock in rt place so no looking @ ur rist incase ur in a hurrry
2.looks r nothing xceptional but i bet u’ll never get bored of it n fall in love in long run
3.the suspension were quite comfy bt a monosuspension wud hv been preffered
4.also wen i streched it above 5000rpm inoticed dat it ws noisy,a sort of mechanical noise frm da valves(plss comment if u hd da same problem)
5.gearshifts were smooth like the unicorns n i disagree wid above comment dat it is smoother than unicorn

Guys m booking my GS 150 in mid feb, actually i wasnt happy bout the product in starting but later i found it to be a sensible buy

  21. whats is its mileage

  22. Hi to all n specially to those who criticized this bike. Firstly, i can bet that those who criticized this lovely model by Suzuki, didn’t take a test ride. I completely agree to Amar that looks n power r not the only thing u should look for.
Comfort, smoothness n the quality of the product should be taken into account. I personally felt that it’s a complete bike, a mixture of Bajaj Pulsar, Honda Unicorn n Hero Honda CBZ extreme. Has got few great features like Engine balancer tech., 6 gears n having an option to select power or economy mode.. Engine is smooth, sound in between unicorns and pulsar. Gear is smoother than unicorns. Pick up is 2 gud. Abt other bikes- to me Yamaha has not proved anything in 4 stroke tech. , n fz16 looks an incomplete bike though the power is really gud. Pulsar becomes a piece of shit after an yr. TVS apache is an horrible bike as quality of TVS product has dropped drastically. Honda unicorn is a gud bike though it only lacks in initial pick up.
Abt mono suspension, u should always have broader tyres (rear) which is normally present in sports or a racing bike (1000 cc +). Not adviced in a normal tyre as it might cause damage to your back bone over a period of time. Some1 wrote abt same old mirror n no rear disc brakes. You guys want the price to be economical n want all the features which is unfair n unrealistic. This bike has got everything all most all the features n name of suzuki which is known for its quality.. So go 4 it Guys….

  23. Yes I have mentioned abt disc brakes, mirrors, old alloys, monoshox etc but I didnt say that we want cheaper bike. They can always provide 2-3 variants (like there are ‘n’ no. of variants available for zeus so no need to teach suzuki) and top-end variant can have rear discs.
Those who want cheaper bikes can settle for CT100, CD100 or Star City :-) .

Pulsar owners have to dump their SHIT bikes(according to Deb) if those have completed one year.

Mono suspension will damage back bones?? UNICORN/FZ16 RIDERS, PLEASE CHANGE YOUR BIKES IMMEDIATELY..
By the way, please find below the advantages of mono suspension (courtsey : Yahoo answers)

1> Mono-shocks eliminate torque to the swingarm and provide more consistent handling and braking.
2>They are also easier to adjust, since there’s only one shock to adjust, and there is no worry about matching two shocks.
3>Also, the linkages used to connect the shock to the swing-arm are frequently deisgned to give a rising rate of damping for the rear
4> The monoshock improves both the ride and handling if tuned well.
5> The simple reason for it being better can be understood by the following explanation- “Whenever you encounter a bump on a M/cycle with two shocks, both the shocks compress, but there is never a situation when both of them compress for the equal length. This leads to downgraded dynamics when it comes to stability. But with a single shock absorber, this problem is solved.
6> In a recent test conducted by Bike Magazine, Pulsar, Apache and Unicorn were pitted against each other on a test track. Although the unicorn was not the fastest, they said it is the most confidence inspiring and the most balanced of the lot.

Still I dont understand the purpose of fitting decade old mirrors, alloys and grab rail on it. Offcourse these things are just to enhance looks but it matters a lot in these days (especially when the company like Suzuki is putting fresh(?) model in market)

  24. hi i have already booked one bike and its stunning but i suspect on milage no one is give proper responce on milage.please can u conform how much we expect the milage from this bike.

  25. Hey @deva_sandeep, mileage will be as good as Unicorn if not better. ZigWheels.com and BikeIndia.in got an average of 60 kmpl and that is exceptional and exemplary for a 150cc motor.
And Mr. @Nikhil_Mahajan, where did you take test drive? Many people have reported that vibrations were at their minimum even at 8000+ rpm.
As many have said here, looks and performance aren’t the only parameters people consider while buying a bike in our country. Please, for god’s sake, DO NOT comment about any vehicle without seeing it in flesh and test driving it.

  26. I want to know all the details regarding engine efficiency, mileage, smoothness, power output, comfort, price on road (Thane – Dombivli or Panvel )

  27. bike looks neat… specification is good… but the look wise could be much more better… front looks are like pulsar…and the rear looks like CBZ extreem… 6speed is not required fr indian roads…
    i got fz16… i feel 4speed would be idol to indian roads….
over all side look looks like a TVS F2

  28. Suzuki is too late in 150 segment race let see what happens anyway the thing which stuck in mind can gs150r can compete other 150cc bikes with 6 gears

  29. good looking bike

  30. bike of the year

  31. hi…i just took a test drive of this bike and its awesome…i m gonna buy it for sure….its gear box is so smooth and riding comfort is also better than other bikes in this segment along with stunning looks and other gr8 features…i think it will give atleast 55 kmpl in city conditions and much more on highways…so to all those apache RTR and yamaha fans….go find urself a place to hide coz suzuki GS 150R is gonna wipe it off all other bikes from the road..!!

  32. Even if it is good in terms of ride and handling, It will lose on performance and looks ground.. I wish they have done something for the looks and given some more power.. Then it would be a perfect bike.. But sorry Suzuki… There is no future.. GS150R will be a flop on the line of zeus and heat.. mark my words..

  33. Another flop model from Suzuki in India…

  34. what about suzuki samurai??
lols..! i guess dat’s da only bike of suzukis which had bttr sale..(compard to new 1s)
neways..! Suzuki motors..now bettr bring ur hayabusa here…!

  35. Rohan! Idiot! Busa has arrived quite sometime back. Dont comment if you have no idea about BIKES!!!

  36. Rear-end looks funny….I also agree that they have used Zeus mirrors and alloys which could have been better….Overall the bike is not exciting and lacks originality…. another fact is 6 speed gears are useless in commuter bike ….No wonder Suzuki is failing in India….

  37. Yeah!
    busa has arrived i knw..!
bt not in ma city :(
    Aurangabad(MH)
    (i guess so) !!

  38. well actually i ve no idea abt suzuki !!
    among sports..yamaha n honda…dats all i knw!:)

  40. Above post from Pritesh is just a Copy + Paste of Niraj post of 19th Feb… :-)

  41. The No 1 BIKE.MODEL ADHIRINDHI(Telugu)

  42. un satisfied millage

  43. Have a look at Yamaha latest launch FZ-S

    http://www.autoblogs.in/2009/03/yamaha-india-launches-yamaha-street.html

Can GS150R compete with this bike??

  44. Suzuki fierro was the bike i really liked . It has set standards in biking technology in terms of mileage, pickup, speed & power in 150cc category bikes. I am expecting many more than the earlier one in this bike.

  45. Hi all,

since i changed lot many bikes(more than 20 from various make) in this 18 years experience.
1.Dont comment any bike with out any test drive.
2.Each and every bike will be refine , all its -ve points will turn into +ve in its 1.1 ,1.2….version. so guys dont worry .
    3. but frankly saying after all the version lauched. we people will look only for the old version and then only we come to know all the advantage of openeing averagely 1.0 and 1.1 will be the best of all. this comes into category models like(splendour(1994.. and upto 2002 model good, pulsar old and dtsi alloy with ordinary speedometer, discover 125,particularly ind-suzuki and tvs suzuki max 100,yamaha 100 and 135,old cbz, 4s champion and so on…..)
    4. above models are looking great now a days particularly to second hand buyers.
coming to the conclusion each and every body will have some individual expectations. not even suzuki or yamaha or bajaj can full fill all our views

so.. comment from my side is over eventhough gs150 r is late for competition. it will surely be a very very good model
becoz of its brand, reliability, and strong enough engine and over all performance.so guys take the transition time and just try with new model gs 150 r. sure u will be ful fill. thanks to suzuki came back to india.
    apache:55%
    pulsar:58%
    yamaha gz :58.5
    unicorn :58.5
    gs 150r: 58 (++ or –) depends on its 1.1 version
    let us see..

coments are posted my own experience.

  46. IF THE RIDING COMFORT IS LOST WITH ONE MODEL EVERYTHING WILL BE LOST
THATS WHY I RATED LIKE THAT .

  47. KIND NOTE PEOPLE WHO SAYS WHAT IS THE NEED 6TH GEAR,ITS USELESS
    —————————————————-

IF U THINK THAT THEN U CAN SELL ALL UR GEAR VEHICLES AND CHANGE TO SCOOTY, THE BEST HONDA ACTIVA AND SO ON …AND ALSO U CANNOT GET COMFORTABLE WITH GM CERTIFIED VEHICLES PARTICULARLY LIKE BUIK, SAABUSA,PONTIAC ETC..

THEN U WILL COME TO KNOW THE USE OF 6TH GEAR

    1.NOISE WILL BE REDUCED
    2.VIBRATIONS WILL BE REDUCED
3.ENGINE WILL NOT BE AFFECT EVEN AT THE HIGH SPEED
    4. AFTER THE TWO OR THREE YEAR ALSO THE CLUTH PLATE WILL BE GOOD
    AND MANY MORE

  48. BIG FLOP from SUZUKI…

    This bike sucks…

  49. hello ! friends I am raj
    I want to purchase GS150R

So, I want to know +ve and +ve points on purchasing, riding and durability or even stability of this byk
On road Price of the same

Pls do mail me ur comments

But only those who have purchased one or atleast had an test drive

  50. I too agree that 6th gear is useless, keeping Indian city traffic in mind..That too if the bike is simple commuter machine…These nonsense Suzuki engineers have not considered actual need..
They are giving outdated 1999 designed bike in 2009 with Digital Speedo and 6 gears.. simple..

  51. ghatiya bike, ghatiya company, ghatiya log, ghatiya marketing stategy.pagal management wale. management change karne ki zarurat hai ye baat sirf japan me pata chal jaye tabhi ye company survive kar sakti hai.

  52. what’s the milleage
    and also the price…

  53. it is too pure bike….really….i’ll never perchause it , never at all

  54. a bike like this in 2009!!!!!!!!!!,they should have launched it in 2006,wil be a flop

  55. Hi fellas,
I’m intended of buying a bike with good over all performance and service. I reside in Chennai. I’ve finalised with UNICORN and SUZUKI GS150R…. Plz do mention the Plus and Minus of both the bikes…

  56. hey guys i am deliema which bike to buy… i had a test ride of suzki GS150R but is really confused with its pick up…
can anybody please tell me which among the following has the best pick.. can u please arrange it in incresing order…
    CBZ x-treme, pulsar 150cc, yamaha fz-16, gs150r, rtr160r , pulsar 180cc, unicorn.

can anyone please advice me which bike to take.. as i need a economic n a performance bike….

  57. suzuki gs 150r is better other bike.every thing is good.lakin power fz-16 aur apache ke compare mai kam hai baki sab perfect hai.

  58. @Anupam, Yahama has launched FZ-S which is even better than FZ-16.. go for it.. Suzuki is fooling Indian consumers by releaseing outdated model in 2009…GS150R will be a flop (like Zeus and Heat)
Even RTR 160 FI is better(both performance and looks , also has rear disc brakes)

  59. hi guys,
i own GS150R…and i also suggest the criticisers to first take a test drive and then leave the comments..
pls dont compare GS150R with UNICORN now as unicorn has been in the market more than 4years. well this new born bike wud hit the market within no time…with its stunning looks and performance..i m getting a mileage of abt 55kmph
hope this wud help the confused people to decide wich bike to take

  60. hi shyju Kerala

thnx for ur suggestions would u pls mail me all details of ur experience regarding this byk’s ability and stability

  61. wats the mileage

  62. Guys, please don’t compare GS150R with FZs, RTR amd R15. Its made to compete with Pulsar150, Unicorn, CBZ Xtreme/Hunk, etc. Because the FZ, R15 belong to the premium segment and RTR being performance bike. Where as the Pulsar, Unicorn, CBZ Xtreme are specially commuting bikes. And the GS150R is in between these two segments. I test rode it and its superb… Those who think 6th gear is useless in city commuting, please think in this way- its provided for cruising on highway. It will reduce pressure on engine and gives more mileage when you want to cruise on highway at say 100 kmph. You don’t need to use 6th gear in city commuting. Its specially for highway cruising at high speeds. And the engine is butter smooth. Its 99.99% like Unicorn. Forget that you will have to change gears in city many time. In my test ride, I took U-turn at 12 kmph in 3rd gear with heavy guy pillion. Isn’t this impressive !!!
So please leave FZ, RTR and R15 aside in a different category. This bike as cool features like Gixxer inspired LED tail lamps and indicators, digital console is attractive (to me), 6 gears, stylish head lamp. If you compare GS150R with Pulsar150 Dtsi, Unicron and CBZxtreme, it is clearly the winner !!! Good job, Suzuki.

  63. If GSX1000R is Dad then GS150R is Son. Thats it…… :)
Have a Happy and Safe riding.

  64. heard about GS15Or’S performance .. i have booked 4 one

  65. guys,if u have idea to purchase new bike plz go n test drive GS150 sure u will feel the comfort!6th gear is very usefull in highway for smooth ride with cruising speed!GS150 ROCKS

  66. anand mudaliar on April 20th, 2009 at 5:48 pm

Hey I purchased GS 150R last week in chennai ….. It is wonderful bike.till now i rode 407 km. It is giving me mileage of 55 km/litre. It’s onroad price in chennai is 68,200/-

    It looks better than unicorn.
Apache RTR is no match for GS 150R.
Once i went to mahapalipuram(45 km from chennai), GS 150R was a racing bull in power mode 6th gear. I attained top speed of 117km/hr. tht top speed i was able to maintain only for 4-5 seconds…bcoz in ECR there are lot of curves

Yamaha FZ looks like a tortoise …. big body, very small head.

  67. The Bike Looks Great.
    I’m Planning To buy One..

  68. Vishwas Bhide on May 7th, 2009 at 1:00 am

Hey I purchased GS 150R 2 days back in Pune …..
Its wonderful bike. Following are my comments on the bike.
    1. I was having Pulsar 180 which i purchased just 20 days back.
That bike has only one plus point is the raw power. But Bajaj
Auto had kept only power in mind and all other necessary factors which are needed in a riding machine were kept aside or not attended at all. Like the seating especially for the pillion is very hard . There is hardly 20 mm of foam and that hard seat will not allow anyone to sit on pillion seat.Secondly after first service my bike sound was changed and it becomes very rough and feels like 2-3 years old pulsar. There are lot of nagative points so i sold my pulsar and purchased this amazing bike.

    2. The first thing we notice is the very big fuel tank with very good painting job done. When we see its headlight and front view, it gives us a big bike feeling, really big. The headlight is at high position which adds to the looks of the bike. Then the broad and soft seat enough for a family of 3. The neat designed tail lamp and indicators which are embaded in the tail light unit. The LED gives nice looks.

    3. Now when we start the engine ON button the bike starts very smoothly, The gearbox is silky smooth, like unicorn.

    4. As we have to drive below 5 k rpm in run in time. I keep the vehicle in Economy mode and in 6th ger even in 4000 rpm we can achieve 68 km/hr speed without any vibrations. I think this bike can easily go at speed @ 120 km/hr.

I will post another comments after i cross 1st 1000 kms

  69. Sadhananda Krishna on May 7th, 2009 at 5:16 pm

    Very good bile.

  70. Anyone facing any problem with this bike ??

  71. STYLISH DESIGN IT CATCH EVERY ONES EYE,

  72. funny thing is that the guys who are crying foul about low performance are the guys who will NEVER pay 2 lakhs and upwards for a bike. which is what you will need to pay for anything with more than commuter power in india straight from the showroom.

if you were that serious about power you could pick up an old 2 stroke and trick it out. it will smoke all the 4 jokes on the road.

all said the GS150 is the kind of bike guys like you are riding all the time. you guys form the majority and that’s the reason why all bike makers sell under 200cc single cylinder 4 jokes. after all they need to sell as many bikes as possible not put powerful expensive (relatively) bikes in showroom windows for armchair enthusiasts to talk about on internet forums.

  73. just crossed 600kms and my bike is giving milage of 62 kmpl, its really amazing as it can reach 70 km speed even below 5000 rpm

  74. Guyz c’mon v r touching yr.2010 n u ppl luving these age old bikes ,i mean luk at the design n still a 150cc engine,,,,india’s a second largest bikers country but look at wot v ppl riding,,,,

  75. ^^^^^

what u have to say on rural ppl riding carts ?

  76. Well, Suzuki people have tried to do something good in the Indian market, but there are many more things which must be added if they want to grow up in the Indian market. Simply adding one more gear doesn’t give good performance to a bike. The bhp should has been increased for a better pick up. Also the top speed should be given more. I have taken the test ride of this bike. It is not a outstanding bike as compared to new launces of Yamaha in 150 cc neither in terms of looks nor in terms of power. If some changes are done in terms of power, speed and looks also, it will surely compete the 150cc biking segment in India.

  77. थोडी विश्रांती घ्या… मित्रांनो.

    @Amit Namjoshi

    tu kuthalya shaharat rahtos ?

Apache vibrates above 80-90 kmph. And engine is not refined as GS150R. Apache is not much comfortable for tours. So now u decide.

  79. Im from Kolhapur shashank.

happy to receive ur reply. thanks !!!

  80. Hey Suzuki enthusiasts! I am from Nepal and wish to purchase this bike (Suzuki GS150R). My current bike is a Suzuki Fiero, which has been giving me very reliable performance for the past 8+ years. The pick-up is still amazing as is the power. It requires very little maintenance. I made a good choice then… now I want a new bike as Fiero is only giving me about 35km/litre. Please write to me about your experiences. Especially – power, pickup, reliability and economy. You can tell me about how it feels after the first servicing and your overall experiences. Were anyone of you disappointed? Why???

  81. Hi I planned to buy Activa…. ITs male or female scooter… I am male

Suggest any one shall i buy or not

  82. hey activa if for both male and female. you can go for it.(but this isnt the right place to discuss “ACTIVA”

  83. Hi all,
I think those people who are talking about the Power, Looks, Mileage, Smoothness, etc., all at ones than I bet, you will never ever gonna get bike like this…Take my words..!!
Yaad karo woh dialogue….KHO KAR PAANE WALE KO “BAAZIGAR” KEHTE HAI….For me this bike is a Baazigar…Rocking..!! If you think you have compromised on looks ( which I dont think so ), then on the other hand you are also getting Power, Mileage and excellent performance….!!

It has got LOOKS, SMOOTHNESS, MILEAGE, attractive console with digital meters and LED backlight lights….all at a very reasonable price…SUZUKI peoples are very smart .. They are giving you all this at a very impressive price without compromising in performance…

If you want more power than go for HAYABUSA….I know peoples who have commented above the price will ” PEE ” in their…pants, by hearing HAYABUSA name..
Forget it …we are talking about GS 150R bike and will only stick to that….

Now finally putting brakes…..Dont think so much, buy this bike with eyes blindfolded…I have taken test drive of this bike and Unicorn as well…And believe me, smoothness is very much similar to Unicorn…It has a very negligible difference which can be ignored…Gear box is very smooth, Pick up is good, and 0-60 in just 4.5 seconds…and all that at a mileage of 55 Kmpl……What else would be expect from 66,000 /-

I request people not to just haphazardely comments by merely looking at the bike..go to the showroom and have a test drive and then comment….. Please dont misguide others..for god sake….!!!

I agree that SUZUKI peoples have taken their time launching this bike but have surely comeup with a machine which can give a touch fight to exisiting bikes in market….And trust me on this one, that this bike has a long way to go….!!!

Please, buy this bike….I have booked one, before booking I also concerned one of the guy just finishing 1000 Kms..and believe me he is so far very much satisfied with the performance…Its a UNICORN version of SUZUKI…..!!

    Chears,

    Rahul

  84. well said by sandy….i agree with sandy review..but i want to add 1 more point after long back..
    guys..
    1. first choose you area were u r located and choose the bike based on ur use and ur need ..ok
ex: a normal vegetable buyier can buy old tvs 50 and use it well it suits for all circumstances.. but a s/w engineer r anppl who r in well developed city having lots of signals and flying all over 7 hours in bike for their job( executive) cannot land up on these tvs 50.. so 6th gear pupose is only for high ways… not for the crowded signals.
2.i can see so many comments like suziki is too late and out dated model..coming back to u.ghuys.. u r saying oly outdated but u guys r acceping even though it is outdated it is a superb bike rite… see…review must use for over all comments abt the bike perfomance and movementsin market…. seems… gs 150 r has nearly competitor like pulser, rtr, uicorn, cbz extreme, hunk and so on..excludeed pulsers and rtr versions.. even though it can able to reach the market…now a days .. but how many competitors for unicorn ,pulser, and apache… at the initial stage of launch and initial version… compare all these i concluded gs 150 r will b far far better only…

    each nmodel disadvantage

    1. pulser.new engine so many got ceased with in 2 to 8 months itself.. i saw so many as bike seller and mech.
    2. apache.. did any one ride the bike with mom wearing sarre and gone abvove 80 and put ur disk breake.. i bet u u will see the hell.. i saw so many such a worst designing and CG to that bike is worst.. and only the spped itself enough means.. every body can buy and fit jet engined to thier bike…rite…
3.unicorn most off the ppl who use unicorn.. will know the crank shaft problem and ther pick up…and also it is not as much go0od like other its an average only…

cbz extrenme and hunk …no comments….i dont know…wat will happen if they didnt have prefix on their name as hero honda . sure they will b the wost in 150 segment…

so its upto u to choose bassed on ur neeed…but over all gs 150 r is good good good.. for my 2 wheeler exp…. let me see after ayear goes on waht is the condition of engine……..see u guys

  85. Hi guys,
I’m looking for a new ride which one should I go for
    1.> CBZ Xtreme
    2.> Pulsar 150 DTSi
    3.> Honda Unicorn
    4.> Suzuki GS 150R
Please help me choosing a new ride……in all respects…..

  86. Amit Namjoshi on June 11th, 2009 at 6:30 pm

    hey buddy..

if u want POWER only then go for pulsar.
if u want reliability only go for unicorn.
if u want reliability with power…

    then go for suzuki…………….GS.

i bought it on 25th may. & yet im 100% satisfied with aftersales service too..

  87. Hi friends i had got this byk last week. its very good to ride. im surprised of its mileage. it gives above 70km. i recommends all my friend to buy suzuki gs150r.

  88. Is there any showroom for this bike in Guwahati?

  89. Debasish Sengupta on July 2nd, 2009 at 4:07 pm

Will any one help me out while advicing me hw can I avail one SUZUKI GS150R. Me residing in Kolkata and I am very much egar to avail one GS150R but here being no Dealer of Suzuki, it is difficult to buy one.

  90. it’s good bike but average is not so good

  91. what the f**k is dis bike.it can never be compared with any other 150cc bike.uunth jaisa kudta hai.no more good performance.

  92. Amit Namjoshi on July 7th, 2009 at 11:43 pm

im not agree with nilesh & richard.

dont know what coz makes them so angry.

im satisfied with this GSR. althou i need 180 or 220 now.

but GSR comes with 150 & giving terrific performance at its best.

i bought it on 15th may after so many test rides of all brands & their models…

i just completed 1050 kms & first servicing as well.

yet i couldnt know its mileage. but will let u know surely.

    anyways……its a hot bike guys..!! & im loving itttt….

  93. guys…..

if u need power, then choose apache 180 or pulser 220….thus losing mileage ….& if compromise 4 mileage..then opt 4 pulser 150 but b ready 4 engine troubles…….

    here after 2nd servicing….things cleared…….

    1. its gives higher mileage wid smoother experience…..
    2. if u need power….u opt 4 power mode which deliver power ( though not row….but sufficient 4 Indian road condition)…..
    3.u can easily achieved 70 km/h under 5000 rpm at economy mode……
    4 digital console is awesome…….
    5. in city traffic also u can get it as slow as 20 km/hr at 6 th gear…….

    …………..so wat u need anymore if u r a biker & not a racer ?

    opt for Suzuki gs150r …….
    otherwise u can 4 unicorn…the 2nd best from my view-point.

  94. the drawbacks of Suzuki gs150r r:

1.2nd rider’s seat is too high……sometimes ppl use saree guard to ride on..thus i fractured my left toe……basically the highest in it’s segment….i don’t know wat purpose is to serve at this height…

2.the rear tire skids frequently specially in muds…very hard 2 control then…..

    3. viger should b more stable along wid its body coz the viger vibrates terribly at higher speed……..

  95. Hi all,
I bought this bike last month my first service is also due now…So far the experience has been good….This bike is eye catcher when you drive on roads..definitely it seems only giant male drivin crazy all da way…Below are few good things about it.

    1. Engine is smooth and doesnt knock at low speed. Also starting Torque is good enough…You can hear a pulsar passing by you (engine making some typical noise)

    2. Gear Shifting is ultrasmooth. Gear Box is very well engineered.

    3. Mileage is good. Iam getting it around 58-60 in city and 65 on Highways. It would be more stable after one or two service.

    4. Electrics are also very good. Head Lamp and LED Tail Lamp are very kool. Also Bike starts at a bike start button half pressed.

    5. Majestic Fuel tank adds five stars to the overall look.

    6. Overall Height of bike is really very impressive. When drivin in city you can notice other babies (CBZ, Pulsar, Apache, FZs, etc) passing around. The Height of this bike keeps you away from the Backpain (My physio told me)…so satisfied with the height of bike(others may be complaining to that)…

    7. Suspensions are very good…Especially compared to monoshock suspensions….U feel like u r drivin suzuki swift…

    8. Weight of this bike is around 150 kg which may be a demerit(which I dont think so) because that keeps you to stick to the road at high speeds…Especially accelerating at high speeds that thing keeps your ass on the bike…u r not thrown away by the turbulent force….

So overall summing up everything,I thinks this is a superb beast that a Indian bikers were dreaming about for so long…..

I advice people not to compare this bike wid other bikes especially wid 180 and 220 CC engines…Because GS is a totally different from other bikes….

Iam sure that you will gonna fall in love wid it at first drive…

    T C

    Chao..

    Regards,

    Rimzi..

  96. Hi Could any one tell me … what are the pressure’s to mainted for SUZUKI GS 150R for both front and Rear

  97. its very nice bike in all respects, please have a ride and dont listen to anybody’s comments.

  98. Amit Namjoshi on July 29th, 2009 at 9:20 pm

No No.. i would suggest, listen bad comments & just ignore it he he.

  99. This bike is good but the tank should be modify for attractive looking then I think this bike will capture the market.

Now the time is for stylish bike so this bike should be stylish.

  100. Now this bike seems to give Unicorn a big challenge. Unicorn is losing to GS in the digital console part. I think this bike will take over the market.

But owners please let us know how the bike performs day by day. I want to buy this bike but hesitating coz its new and reliability is not tested yet. Any suggestions.

  101. I test drived Suzuki GS150R, i was pleased with its performance.
I presently own a Suzuki Fiero which gives me good experience even after 7 years of drive which made me to go again for a Suzuki bike. Actually i was waiting for another Suzuki 150CC bike for past 2 years and just 6 months back it arrived for first test drive. I could not stop myself in booking for the second bike even if my present bike is good.

I will tell one thing to all people who expect some magic from a simple 150 Kg machine.
A bike needs atmost performance and not super power. Even if you have power you cannot fly.
I have seen all bikes from my friends. If i talk about + and minus of a 150CC bike see the list
    1) Bajaj=> + is look and market, – is engine noise and handling(need more effort to at turns) so not fit for city, it does nothing special with 2 sparkplugs, better they can use one and other can be a spare when the first fails, bajaj will make even 1000CC bike in same single cylinder air cooled, but there also you will see 2 spark plugs, thank god bajaj has no cars otherwise it may have 16 spark plugs for 4 cylinders, simply some plastics catch the eyes, fit for jobless road-romeos and students to pickup girls and roam

    2) Hero-honda => + is power, – is mileage and still now they are not able to rectify the problem of folding the driver foot pedal to operate the kick starter, noone speak about this stupid incompetence of Hero-honda engineers, overall its fit for students
as they never care about mileage or long life

3)Honda => + is smoothness and monoshocks, – is some engine rattle at some speeds and no special features. Started well and thriving slowly in the field, its genenrally considered as a professionals employees bike, not fit for students or youngsters

4)Yamaha => + is styles, optimum performance ,- is no good mileage and no long term reliability, R15 is not worth for money, overall is ok. After Rx135 nothing came special, only some extra plastics and painting.

    5) TVS => + is trying new tech with FI and rear discs and also some power, – is braking and long run

    6) Suzuki => + is quality and long run, – is looks and pickup.
But if you think to have a long term usage and for professionals suzuki also does well.

GS150 R is not superior in style or pickup, but stability, low engine noise, top mileage of all 150 cc and long life are advantages.

Go for GS150R if you are really a professional and broadminded!

  102. hi everyone,
i need to decide between GS150R and honda unicorn,i need to travel daily 70 km,search i did got that GS150R is better for me as i am student and going college.
    but i have some question.
1.why this bike is not that popular if it is that much good and i rarely see single GS150R on road.
2.it comes with digital things like speedometer tail led light,if in long time like in 2-3 year these things will have problem then its replacement is costly as normal meter things in unicorn.
3.hight i want low for back seat also,as sometime i need to take mine mother also on bike in market.so hightwise unicorn is better then GS150R also weightwise unicorn better as its 2-3 kg less then GS150R.
these was mine questions,if anyone can clear them in detail.

also i want to ask about tubeless tire what is that,is these tires are coming in these 2 bikes?

  103. Hi all…Today i had a test drive with GSR150…nandanam..chennai…It was boosting me up to drive more..it really made me crazy to drive….all is gud…i asked the show room proprietor about the drawback of this bike personally…even he admitted…only one negative feedback he gets frm some of his customers is….it’s noisy..when we ride above 1000rpm…that’s makes the biker irks about the bike…apart frm that…GSR is OWNERS PRIDE OTHERs ENVY….:-) I’m decided n convinced to go for it within a week…

  104. I think it’s a new looking and trendy bike but there are so many fatures are in other bikes just like FAZER.

  105. Hi Guys,

Are there any old owners of GS150r Bike, I mean someone who has used this bike fro more than 6 months? Need to know the milage after six months, the engine smoothness and top speed reached ( has some one driven this bike on above 120 kmph? is there engine noise or is it smooth at top speed? in the reviews above I have noticed few comments stating the engine sound changes after reaching 80 kmph is this true.. what kind of noice is that ? I liked the bike and planning to buy it ASAP,but before that I wanted some genuine FB on this bike!!!

    Thanks

  106. i bought it on 25th may 2009 in kolhapur.

drove at 110 km/hr on highway.

no noise too smooth at top speed. completed 1400 kms so far.

    GO4IT.

  107. I am using this bike from more than 6 months. have crossed 7000 kms and 3 services done. have been reading all comments. Firstly, people who intend to bike n feel that the riding comfort is gud for them, pls close your eyes and just go for this bike. In no ways this bike is bad, whether it is handling, pick up and MILEAGE. Best in this class till now. i am getting 52 km/l on driving on a power mode in Bangalore city traffic which is 1 of the worst traffic.
Some1 had questioned, why this bike is slow moving. i too had this question in my mind. But yes now i can c many bikes on the road, of course cannot compare it to pulsars n unicorns (they are 8-9 yr old bikes). However i have been asked in many signals abt GS150R, people keep asking me, when this bike has come to market, which company, etc etc… This shows that lack of advertisements could be 1 of the reason that a city like Bangalore (highest volume of two wheelers in the world) is not aware of the bike and probably it is slow moving.
But honestly, i am very happy with the performance. I still stick to my words that Its a complete bike and far far better than Bajaj pulsar (only coz of its looks and new trendy things it has captured the market, else the engine is a not good. Engine with twin spark-plug is like if u lit a candle from both the ends, it will give u more light, but the life reduces. actually in case of pulsar 150, this is not very significant either)
About the engine noise guys, once you take above 85 km/hr, the sounds does increase. However the vibrations are not significant. So overall it remains smooth.
Its pleasure driving this bike.. It will drive you guys crazy…

  108. Thanks Deb for your feedback, now since you have answered few of my queries, am very keen to buy this bike….. however have few more queries and your prompt answer is appreciated!!! how do you find the service offered by Suzuki service station? are there good engineers to address the issues you bring to them? what about the spares are they available with Suzuki at immediate disposal? or do we need to wait? finally are the spare parts expensive?

    Cheers
    Praveen Bhat

  109. Suzuki service is gud but not excellent. Can give them 7.5/10. Actually speaking it all depends on the dealer to dealer. if the dealer is managing to sell gud volume of bikes then he doesn’t concentrate on service aspect. However it is still fair enough, better than TVS, HH and Bajaj. They do address your problem if any. Normally suzuki bikes are No problem bikes. Spare parts are always available. I do not on GS150 R as it is just 7 mnths old and other than air filter nothing is replaced as yet. But i have enquired on other models, it is easily available. Spare parts are not costly, in fact economical when u compare it with Honda.

  110. Thanks Deb for your prompt response…. Appreciate it!

I took a test ride of Apache RTR 160 and CBZ Extreme, I guess HH Hunk has been discontinued….. My comments on the test ride are as below

    HH CBZ Extreme,

HH has made some colour change to the Alloye wheels at the rear side with complete red, and it claims 14.2 BHP of power.. I did not like the engine sound, it sounds very rough, gear shifting was also not that smooth, the pillion rider felt uncomfortable with the seatign!!! Torque is also not that great, Vehical gives a jurk when driving slow on higher gear, overall the looks seems to be ok, but did not like the vehical.

    Apache RTR 160 FI:

Man I must say I liked the sheer initial pick up and the sound, Amazing engine sound when you start the bike… liked it sheer 15.2 BHP engine… excellent initial pickup, comfortable seating, need to get used to the gear change leaver… as am not used to such leaver with out heal rest. Suspension seems to be good as I drove it on rough road. I doubt about the milage… executive says 50 kmpl but I have serious doubt on this… 40 – 45 is what I think is attainable. Engine sound seems to be ok at low speeds but not tested it on high speed, no idea on teh vibration after 80 kmph, The Handle bar was bit very close to the tank and felt it uncomfortable during 180 degree turn, Torque is also not all that great… you are forced to lower gears when driving at 20 kmph speed, overall I liked the pickup and sound…

I need take another test ride of Suzuki GS150 to compare the above.

    Cheers
    Praveen Bhat

  111. I have driven Apache 160 RTR. Its initial pick up the best in the segment. However only in 1st gear. the pick up is not so gud in 3 or 4 gear. Mileage is 35-45 km/l. Moreover the biggest disadvantage of Apache is its vibrations at 65-70 km/hr. Other than that TVS has a bad reputation on tank leakage (Common compliant) and general spare parts are very cheap in quality. So pls check again on these parameters. If not GS150 R then other bike which is best in its in class in Honda Unicorn. Other than that all bikes have more disadvantages than advantages..

  112. I have tested several bikes and found that out of all other bikes Suzuki is best, it may be Fiero,GS150R, Heat or Zeus.
When you drive slow in Top gear any other bike will really jerk and pulsars will switch off, but Suzuki bike can allways handle this situation.

All other 150CC bikes are ok for highway, but for dense traffic streets a Suzuki will only make good performance.

If you want to Show up to others and personally be affected with all de-merits then you go for other bikes. But suzuki takes care of the bike owners compfort and joy. Even GS150 is also stylish compared to Pulsar(a leaning backboneless donkey).
May be Yamaha FZ is good in looks but Mileage? Performance?
I heard from many of my friend who own these Gladiators and Crux which needs lot of maintenance.

Suzuki GS150 is absolutely a no-maintenance bike. My friend who uses this bike said ‘my bike gives 55 in coimbatore city traffic and 60 on highways’. He use to tell that his old bike pulsar150 needs frequent gear downs in cities and noisy vibration and mileage not more than 50knpl.

TVS has copied the Suzuki Fiero technology for its Apache and Fiero Fx(now absolete) but made a change in gearbox from 4 gears to 5 gears and suffer lot of gear noise and poor pickup due to poor clutch. Fiero Fx was ok in terms of engine as changes done only in gear box, but in Apache engine is also changed which ultimately suffer in torque.

First gear torque will never help. When at cruise mode if we go on a speed down and again up there shouldnt be a need for gear down. Suzuki achieves this requirement. Also GS150R has a gear position indicator which is not avaialble in Pulsar, Unicorn, Hunk or CBZ.

    So GS150R is the best.

  113. Hi,

I am planning to buy the GS150R. I am convinced with all your comments. But I just want to know about the height of back seat (Pillion). I heard that its very tall that the roof of the Innova is below the Pillion’s eyes and due to its weight makes it difficult while parking in a narrow space.

Can any one comment on these two aspects.

    Thanks

    Thanks

  114. @ jefferson
I bought GS150R 2 weeks back and already covered 65o km.yill now the performance is appreciable…yet to get my first service …Yes the height of the back seat is a bit more, a 5′8″ person’s leg straddlling on the seat cant touch the ground, ……… but the piilon seat never loks odd.i havent checked the eye level of the piilon….i dont think this can be a point of concern. And weight doesnt hamper its maneuverability as its evenly distributed….

    Thanks.

  115. And one weak point of GsR is its rear brak…it is not as effective as other bikes…i met all the owners of GsR on the day of registration and they share the same feeling….this i think is a serious issue that suzuki needs to address ASAP…..however its +ve s are-low engine noise/smooth gears/no vibration and good milege…

  116. i dis-agree to utpal.

  117. on which point u disagree amit ?

  118. Hey guys iam using this bike for more then 5 months..i have driven 5k kms….Its a comfortable bike ofcourse, its lot more better then FZ’s..the only negative point about this bike is that its engine sounds TAK TAK TAK after switching it off even after a shorter ride also…some say its sort of cooling effect..
Does any of u guys experiencing this sort of problem.?Do help in this matter…

  119. hi.. I m using this bike from past 7 months n driven 7500 kms. Of course this sound comes every1 will experience this. I do not the technical aspect or reason for this but i can say this is not a problem. This happens to every bike (Unicorn, Pulsar etc..). This is something which happens in the new generation bikes n this is something to do with the cooling effect (this was told by the suzuki service guys), though i m not very sure, but i am sure this is not a problem. I am very happy with the overall experience & performance of the bike.

  120. Amar i agree with you as i own this bike and there is no point of comparing it to fz as it is tad costlier at rs 73000+ otr.Plus the fz can really irritate you on a drive more than 50km with a pillion. Also the engine of the gs is far more refined than fz with a sliky smooth gearbox. It also delivers a mileage of 45+ in city compared to 40-42 of the fz and the gs also has a top speed of 114+ on the power mode.

  121. sure there is a showroom michael in guwahati. god speed motors near the down town hospital.

  122. plz tell where did i get it,there is no showroom of suzuki motor cycles here in Srinagar….
    plzzz reply….

  123. hey deb this sound does not come in UNICORN or PULSAR….but in suzuki this sound will start comin even if u drive short distances also, say around 1km also…but in other bikes this comes only after u drive longer distances…
is there any way out to stop dis sound?may be different engine oil or something like tat?

  124. Just today only i spoke to Suzuki superviser when i went for the 4th service. This sound is not bad. It is to do with some kind of technology where in carbon monoxide gets converted to CO2. That converter makes the noise. It is nothing wrong… Its a normal feature.. However i m nt convinced that unicorn doesn’t make that noise. It does make that noise which is a normal phenomenon…

  125. plz tell where did i get it,there is no showroom of suzuki motor cycles here in Srinagar…(JAMMU & KASHMIR).
    plzzz reply….

  126. Yes man that unicorn does not make noise for sure, one of my close pals has it so i drive his bike lots of times, it does not make noise for sure…anyway thanks for the infrmation..

  127. Guys what about the suspension of Gs150r when compared to unicorn. My brother in law insists me to go for unicorn. I am quite confused.

  128. yo man go for GS150R only, its go0d,stylish and has great power and grip compared to tat old unicorn….all oldies will recommend unicorn ..dont listen to them ZARA HATKE SOCHNA YAAR:)

  129. plz tell where did i get it,there is no showroom of suzuki motor cycles here in Srinagar…(JAMMU & KASHMIR).

  130. Dear Bike lovers, I’m here to share few observations on my Suzuki GS150R which help for new bikers to opt and here is the review. Yes this is suitable to Excecutives, Family, Commutters, Office goers may be for some college students.
    Here is the positive (+)
    > Look and Design which will suit for all class (I’m married my wife wont like student class bike since the seat rear is not appropriate) This will suit for all.
    > Bulky (Macho Fuel Tank) capacity of 15 ltrs and fuel indicator
    > State of Art Tachometer with 3 stage Trip meter- ODO, Trip A&B, Chromeplated RPM meter, Digital Time Display which helps to see time for office commuters.
    > Balanced weight (150CC and kerb wg 150 kg) ideal like enfield
    >Six Speed Gear, 1 down and rest up and 13.8 Bhp
    > No jerk even in 4-6 gears with speed low as 35 kms and feather touch gear which gives unique silky drive
    > Powerful Head beam and integrated LED rear lighting including turn indicator, gives ideal safe driving for Delhi and other parts north India due to Fog/Smog weather conditions.
    > Good performance in Highways with good balance, its ture their slogan Drive me crazy…..
    > Minimum noise while driving and gives silky drive
    > Good Braking technology, smooth front disc barke on left side which is unique from other bikes.
    >Rear Gas Shocks with 6 stage adjustable positions
    > And Finally world class Suzuki engine with State of Art technology for Indian roads
    Negative Aspects (-)
? Handle is hard and feel strain after long drive, perhaps this may due to new bike and need time to settle down (somebody can give expertise guidance)
? Cannot able to turn withn short radius
? Drowsy kickstart, need every time to pull out kicker with hands
? Manual Choke, need to position back manually before ride
? Shocks sets for Highway drive and feels on horseback when you drive rough Indian roads locally, perhaps we may need to set 6 stage adjustable schock positions, come out from factory in 3rd stage.
? Come without tubeless tyres (Perhaps life span of tubeless tyres are shorter than regular ones)
Milage – Before 1st Service in Delhi roads around 52-56 Kmpl, wait for update after 1st service.

  131. well boys i own one. i have test driven pulsar150,unicorn and fz , the thing is that none of them have met with the perfomance and rhe handling the gs150 gave. apart from pulsar please dont even compare fz and unicorn with gs. yaa fz has got the distinct look but it looks like a toy and is a shame for the whole naked series. Instead of buying unicorn its better to buy a passion “its nothing more than a 150cc bike fitted with a 100cc engine. hey guys iam confident enough to say that GS150 has got the best in class milage and power

  132. is it ok to buy this bike if rider height is 5′5″
i want to know this please reply

  133. Hey guys i want to buy a bike but i am confused which one i bought. plz help me. my mind goes on the PULSAR, SUZUKIGS150R, HONDA UNICORN, or HONDA STUNNER, plz tell me which one i bought in these.plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz reply me quickly.

  134. i had a test drive …

i’m compairing with Honda , TVS , Yamaha & HeroHonda..
as Bajaj Pulsar lokking like a sisaster after few years…it sounds like losse body oldies…Pulsar is good 4 pickup bt its nt 4 long run…if u want 2 ride a bike atleast for 3 years..4got pulser…

So Competetor is Unicorn , Apache… , CBZ , FZ

FZ is stuff for boys(as its naked)& pillion comfi is just like worse…
Unicorn is just lagging 4 its mono suspension, its really sucksin long run(100+ km’s)
CBZ is really good bt its macho look is now a days gone..
Apache is the real competetor…& it will giv a tough fight..
I think its better to bu a suzuki than tvs….as its more branded & time tested brand…

  135. Guys, I have booked this bike today, should have this by end of next week. Need to arrange for Hard cash :-) Deewali offer will save abut Rs3000 and the effective cost would come to 65890 in Bengaluru.

    Happy Deewali guys

  136. Well I just Purchased GS 150 R n i its amazing. Dnt know wat all guys hav trouble for gs150 but believe me at least take a test ride n u will forgot all other as i did. A damn good control n real macho style, Awesome Comfort, am falling in love with ma bike.

  137. Hi All,

After lot of research on the available 150 cc bike and considering few factors like Engine smoothness, Spare part cost, Mileage, Driving comfort, excellent torque, pilion rider comfort, gear leaver usage, Digital console, Gear indicator and 6 gear overdrive I finaliesd on GS150 and have purchased the vehical, I love the driing comfort on the vehical and you dont believe that you can manuvor this vehical on the 6 gear at 27 kms …. loving the bike have done about 200 kms so far.

Hands off to Suzuki for this one… defintely an excellent bike.

    Happy Deewali
    Praveen Bhat

  138. Hi

I got the bike 1 month ago and is due for 1st service. It gives me 44 km/litre hope will improve after 1st service. Engine is smooth and road grip is good. Engine is a bit noisy when compared to my old hoodibaba (caliber 115).

One serious problem which i feel is, when you take your hands off the handle bar while driving the vehicle leans towards the right. When I asked the service person to my shock he said that the manufacture is like that. As a result of this a long ride strains my right hand. Does any one encounter this problem.

Can any one suggest how to get rid of this problem. If I could rectify is problem GS150R would be an excellent bike.

This problem is not there in other bikes. Pulser goes steadily when you take your hands off the handle bar while riding.

    Regards,
    Jefferson

  139. Hi Jefferson, something problem only with ur bike. Because I have rode my GS almost 3800 kms. I have rode many times leaving both your hands. There is no problem. It doesnt lean one side. check with ur service center again.

  140. Hi Jefferson,

I agree with BLR_guy, It looks like the problem is only with your bike, even I have tried riding the bike without hands on the handle bar…. GS150 does not lean as you say… kindly check with your service engineer. I purchase this bike last month and driven about 500 kms so far.

    cheers
    Praveen

  141. The ‘TAK TAK’ sound after stoping engine come from the cylencer pipe. When pipe heated it expend, after stoping it sinks, that is the sound and it is normal.

  142. Thanks Rajesh,

And what I have also observed is that TAK TAK noice which comes when the engine is stopped is normal and also observed on Yamaha FZS series Machine.

All new generation bikes make this noice I guess.

Well, has any one driven this bike over 110 kms per hour… if yes is there any vibration, how stable is it on the road?

Another thing which am not happy about is the TAK TAK noice when I am driving in first gear and the noise during shifting the gear to Second one ( Rather the noice which comes when you are driving in first gear and you press and depress the clutch )

    Cheers
    Praveen

  143. yes i bought it on 25th may 2009 in Kolhapur & driven over 110 kms on highways the same day.

    no vibrations total stable.

my meter crossed 2500 now & im happy with it. i dont have any problem with tak tak noise when i park it.

    cheers..
    amit.

  144. Hey Amit are u kidding ….this sound comes an all 150r’s
other than this sound everything is perfect in this vehicle
Then man which engine oil are u using?

  145. kidding? didnt understood ur posting. could u explain in hindi/ marathi plz?

  146. i meant tat how cum ur bike is not making tak tak sound after u park it?…
any methods to get rid of tat sound o wat?
wat about engine oil?will u get it changed in the showroom itself or from any other outlets?
and plz do tell me any solution for tat sound man?

  147. Dear friends,

Even I get the sound some times when parking. I have observed it even in pulsar and other new 150 cc bikes. Its common. I have rode above 110 kms when I had been to a trip along with my few friends. Its really awesome to ride. No stress. very very less vibrations. Especially in 100 to 105 there are no vibrations. You never feel it.

  148. hey hey..

i dont have any problem “WITH” tak tak noise when i park it…

i didnt say, i dont have any problem “OF” tak tak noise when i park it.

    instead, i like da noise… :-)

  149. Ha HA okay man…
and i agree with Blr guy..it makes practically no noise and there is very very less vibration when u drive the bike at the speed of 100+kms…and the engine is becoming smoother day by day…i have driven around 6000 kms ,now the bike has become a lot smoother…u can say its even better than unicorn whose trademark is filtration of engine..
and finally the bike really rockzzz…

  150. Does this GS 150r has self starter or not?

  151. Does Suzuki GS 150r has the self stater or not?

Kindly inform me as soon as possible.

  152. for suzuki they made excellent bykes..
    but
their is some thing is missing in looks like upcoming bike..

also they have to increase the POWER.
    like bhp is to less.
    Thanku

  153. Hi Kshirod, Yes. Obviously. Its an 150 cc bike. It does have Self Starter.

  154. Thanks blr_guy

  155. Hi Guys,

I am from Chennai-Tamilnadu. Planning to buy new bike. But got confusion that which bike to buy, among the below

    1) Suzuki GS150R
    2) Unicorn
    3) Pulsar

Ple suggest which 150CC bike to buy and + and – of that one.

  156. hey surya go for suzuki itself since it is a time tested company…u will get long term happyness from it
on the other hand unicorn is undoubtedly a good bike..but it is not having digital read out and it has monosuspension….hence,…
Pulsar is popular bike which will give consistent milage and pick up is good in it ..
BUT IF U WANT SMOOTH DRIVING AND STABILITY AT HIGHER SPEEDS GO for 150R!…its good..it is ideal for long drive among all the 150 cc bikes…

  157. Thx Abiman.

But i heard that Suzuki 150R has some failures and engine sound wil become worse day by day, and some negative comments about the Suzuki made me dilema and more confusion. Can u explain more details and postive of Suzuki 150R . But i like the bike 150R very very much

  158. No man it doesnt have failures and all….it has a very good engine and mileage is also quite good….but the thing is this bike is lot bigger than the other 150cc bikes…it is suited for tall fellows(in the sense u must be atleast 5.8)..otherwise the bike is really good and stable…i dont see any defects in this bike man..
And if u dont want to buy this bike Go for unicorn only its a nice bike..

  159. tak tak sounds is the sound of cylensor pipe ,when the engine stoped it cools itself by making sound tak tak, it is no defect its the sond of high cooling power.

  160. dear friends am looking to purchase a new bike this new year can any body mail me who is using the bike from one year i need the detail performance and comfortable, handling, millage of the bike suzukigs150r is it good compared to unicorn

  161. am looking to purchase a new bike this new year pl guide me about suzuki gs 150r by mailing to my address raghav03@gmail.com

  162. Raghav, go for suzuki, I am using it for more then 2000k.m. Milage is around 60-65 in highway & city. But my observation is if you want a 100% performance from bike always keep atlist 10 litter of petrol in tank.

  163. Hi Rajesh, Does it make difference if there is more petrol in the tank. I usually fill in for 300 rs every time. Even I brought my GS in the first lot in Bangalore when it was launched. Its an awesome bike. One of my friend too brought last month.

  164. Yes, you will get a good pulling power. You can check it out yourself, just run your bike in reserve for 1/2 days and then fillup the tank, you will get the differance.

  165. Raghav.. My advise is go for this bike since i drove 3400 ODO and impressed with its performance, i surely say its a communter bike for all class like student, professionals and family.. I work for embassy i can own a car but in Delhi trafic car is not helps to reach in time. If you dislike then only choice is Unicorn.. but it lacks many + of GS150… Suzuki engine is always trust worthy.. I had Samurai and Ind-Suzuki (1988) of my uncle. Still it gives pleasure drive.. Then take about Max 100 R… all these aresuzuki versons not TVS. After TVS manufactured this the life is only 40000 Kms. After tt it produces engine sound.

Also another most important thing is any bike 1st initial 3000 kms go with avg throttle speed of abt 40-55km/h. This gives engine steady.. Go for along ride with this and feel how it is?

  166. Satheesh, I had Suzuki Samurai 98 model. I have used it for almost 11 years before buying my GS. Its absolutely a Problem free bike as stated by suzuki. Abslutely low maintenance. Wonderful bike. Suzuki are known for their Engines and durability. Suzuki Shogun, Shaolin, Samurai, Ind suzuki and also max 100. Its a pleasure to ride 2 stroke bikes.

  167. hi my self raghav, planing to buy this bike in jan 1st of 2010 am just 5.4 tall , will this bike suits for me , how about comfortable and handling in the city limits and curve , u turn , i use 80 to 90 percent in the city limits ly pl advice , my mail adress is raghav033@gmail.com.

  168. Its a cool bike. It looks too good. I purchased it today. looks good to me right of now. well will satisfy me further.
If anybody can tell me about the average they r getting in city and on highways?

  169. Ajinkya the bike will satisfy u in the long run but do take care of it properly give some speed fluctuations within the speed of 65 kmph until u complete 1500 kms…
once i got a high way mileage of 55 wen i had been on a long tour,,,otherwise in the city limits u will get 45-46 as usual nothing special….but the mileage is directly proportional to quality of engine oil and filter u use….

  170. Hey raaghav dont go for this bike because of ur height……apache is best suited for ur height i guess….no offence :-)

  171. hi Abhiman, i agree that apache suits to my height but it vibrates more at 60 to 70 which i dont like , how about fzs, i tried fz16 in city for an hour of my friends bike i felt slight shoulder pain and apart from this full comfortable the sudden breaking at high speed was good , can u plz explain me why suzuki gs 150r is not suitable for my height bcoz i like this very much and confused to buy and pl any body tell about breaking at high speed .pl help me out in deciding before new year bcoz i planed to buy for this new year

  172. dude in this bike actually seating is quite a bit higher
and if u liked it then go for it without any hesitation…..
i guess u have taken the test drive…
FZ is not good man its mileage is awful…

  173. thanks Abhiman i tried test drive long back but i felt very pleasent drive and can u pl tel me about sudden brake at heigh speed . bcoz i felt skid in many bikes other than fz bcoz of broad tyre and for me 35 millage is ok then to i liked gs 150 so pl tell some thing about sudden brake in gs 150r

  174. dude the fact is FZ is a premium 150 cc bike so braking system is good in that…and i too felt the same wen i went for a test drive on it
if u want only mileage of 35, then go to fazer itself its the best looking bike in 150 cc segment and it is suitable for ur height also:-)

  175. hi,
I am Ragesh from Chennai, I had a test drive of gs150r and it is the best but we can find very few people using the bikes from Suzuki company and I enquired with the people who are using the bike from there side the reply was about your service it is very bad for example my friend Mr.Srinivansan had a problem with the service center at ABT service centre in Chennai. every customer is a free add for the company if he is satisfied than 100% that company will get a business through the same customer only due to your bad service you are going to lose your customer so please take care of your service centre

    Regards

  176. i PREDICTED AN YEAR AGO THAT IT WILL FOLLOW uNICORN IN GRAVEYARD AND YES TODAY SUZUKI IS NOWHERE IN MOTORCYCLES DUE TO DEFECTICE ENGINES GEARBOX,DESIGN, AMD LOW MILEAGE OF 30 KMPL IN CITY ,SO THEY ARE USING PRODUCTION LINES TO PRODUCE THAT 125CC SHIT PLASTIC SCCOTER FOR WHICH THERE IS NO COMPETITION EXCEPT FROM ANOTHER PLASTIC TOY WORTHLESS DIO
SUZUKI NEXT YEAR WILL REMEMBERED FOR OBITUARY OF ALL TWO WHEELED MODELS WHEN TVS MAKES PRESENCE WITH 150CC METAL SCOOTERS AND SR150 WATER COOLED ENGINES MOTORCYCLES.OSAMA SOON WILL BE HISTORY IN INDIA AND EUROPE

  177. Hey Dean, You have mentioned the unicorn will follow the Graveyard. Have you rode the GS or Unicorn. Both are best in its class for Comfort and smoothness. The TVS doesn’t come any where near its smoothness or comfort. Take Apache. Good pickup. no comfort and lots of vibrations. TVS engine. You can feel it after 2 or 3 years.
Ask any GS or Unicorn Owners. They love their vehicles.
Which bike are you saying that it has defective engines , gearbox etc…. The suzuki engines are famous for their reliability.
The Honda Activa sales completely came down when the Suzuki Access had launched. Have you test rided it or just assuming. Even access is a good vehicle.

  178. To dean,
What is wrong with you dude? Not only did you mention suzuki but honda also. I was sceptical of suzuki since everyone was praising the bike as the best even smoother than honda. I didnt believe till i test drove it. Now Im riding with it for 2 weeks. No problem so far and engine is getting smoother and smoother. Initially the gear shifting was a lil hard but its butter smooth now. And wats wrong with plastic. Do you even know why they add plastic, its to reduce the overall weight and hence the mileage. Saying absurd things loud wont make it all truth. Either you are obssessed or damn jealous

  179. i love ma bike.. bought it on 25th may n rided 3500 kms so far..

just have a question which petrol is good for my bike.. speed? power? unleaded?..

  180. Hii Amit,
I asked the same to my service centre they asked to fill with the regular available as they have tuned for it. Dont know much but from xBHP and other forums they also mentioned the regular one. One of my friend who is using unicorn even had to change the carburator since he was using different kind of petrol every time. His mechanic said to avoid high octanes. Just a suggestion

  181. Hi Amit, Even my Service Center person told me that Speed or High Octane petrols makes difference only in High end bikes like more than 500 cc bikes. I just just Normal Petrol. I usually put petrol only from Shell Petrol pumps. Very rarely I put petrol for other petrol pumps only on Emergency.

  182. I’m planning to buy a new bike of 150cc range .. I’m planning to choose TVS Appache RTRFi 160 , Suzuki GS 150r , Honda Unicorn … so please guide me … also tell me about their milage …. My mail id is- sagar.chauhan@rocketmail.com

  183. I own Unicorn for past 5 years and I am really very much satisfied with its performance (speed, mileage, comfort, smoothness), now I like to change my vehicle, after test drive I find GS150R is nearly equivalent to Unicorn, but on the engine sounds entirely different when the speed limit cross 90Kmph, whereas in Unicorn I experienced even at 105Kmph the engine is as same and smooth

As I give very much importance to engine sound and smoothness at all speeds, can anyone suggest me which will be the best(Unicorn or GS150R)

  184. bike of the year

hey guys, I bought it (25may 2009) when nobody knows it in kolhapur. I tested & short-listed from atleast 6 brands n 12 models, now im happy to know dat SuzukiGS150R is BIKE OF DA YEAR. Now I’m watching many on roads.

    CONGRATULATIONS U ALL BUDDY.

    HAPPY RIDING SuuzZzuuuuuuuuuuumm >>>>>>>>> :-)

  185. To Naresh
Buddy why are you going for the same 150 CC segment, i own a GS150. I too wanted to have a unicorn but bought GS as it seemed so similar and had wonderful reviews. Honda engines seems to get better and better and no one will think about replacing them. My GS is still goin through its running in period, but honda seemed to be a little more refined than Suzuki in engine smoothness. In terms of riding comfort GS is better than Honda. Even though suzuki seems to be little rough its mileage is greater than honda by atleast 5 kmpl .

  186. I was planin to buy a bike in 150 segment from last 1 month. and i m serchin for the best packeg in all . i went to all the showroom in delhi n now i have boked gs 150 r . i have taken test ride of all the bikes, n i strongly feel that susuki is givin the best comfortable bike. n the powe of bike is good in city limits..

  187. @ shiraz
Thats a nice choice buddy, take care of her and she wont let you down.

  188. I had purchase Suzuki GS150R on 24 Sept.2009.This bike is nice & speedy & it really gives me 58km/ltr in both modes in highway and in city roads it gives 60km/ltr if u decrease the use of brake. Its power mode is may be equal to pulsar 220 according to my view of driving. So, if anyone wants to purchase a new bike in 150cc segment pls go for Suzuki 150R.
    RAHUL RAI
    JABALPUR (M.P.)

  189. Good Choice guys. I was one of the Customers who brought Gs 150 on the day the Product was launched in Bangalore. Initially only 20 vehicles from Each showroom was launched from a three star hotel in Bangalore. The product launch party was good. Now a days I do see a lot of GS in bangalore.

  190. hey i request pl coment on sudden break at heigh speed of gs 150 r

  191. hey raghav its a nice question about gs 150r but ya it skids if u use rear brake at a time & doesn’t use both brakes. If u use both brakes at a time it’ll really stop but takes some feet’s to stop.Nearby 5-10 by using both brakes.

  192. hey guys , i received this bike on 25 jan, on 2nd when I slow down the speed , bikes gets off suddenly, i am very much upset ya…is this bigger problem..??

    else bike is good.

    plez help me..

  193. hey rohit, dont worry at all.. just adjust the idling.. dats it.

  194. @ Rohit adjust idling rpm to 1400. Before setting it ride it for some minutes to warm the engine say a 10 min ride. The adjust the knob to 1400. On cold start the rpm will be low (@1100rpm)but will increase once the engine gets warmer.

  196. Today, i Drove this bike and within two days i am going to get the metallic gery colored one………. It is really superb, excellent bike that i have ever rode. I never fall in love with any of the bike till now what ever i rode. In that case i was trying to adjust with Unicorn — that is a fair one but this has no comparison, Previously i was thinking whether is it really as good as Unicorn but now i think there is no comparison only. Don’t go by public opinion go personally to the showroom have a test drive and dam sure IT WILL DRIVE U CRAZY………..

GET IT AND ENJOY IT. THERE IS NO MATCH………

  197. Can anybody say among the two color Dark blue and gray metallic, Which is looking better??? I am confused!!! The showroom here has all the color except gray metallic. I have already ruled out orange and black color but i haven’t seen the gray metallic color one. So, anyone can suggest me among these two color which looks better???

    GRAY METALLIC OR DARK BLUE?????

pLZZZZZZZZZZZZ Reply as soon as possible……

  198. GREY METALLIC

  199. GREY METALLIC

  200. Grey Metallic, The blue colour is really bad. YOu can see only 5 in 50 vehicles. The Grey is Very good.

  201. Thanks for all of your valuable suggestion. I am going for the Grey metallic one……….

  202. I’m planning to buy a new bike of 150cc range .. I’m planning to choose Suzuki GS 150r , pulsur150… so please guide me …

  206. Hi Guys,

I bought Suzuki GS150R-Metallic which is amazing one. Awesome to drive especially in long drive :) .

It is giving 59* KMPL so guys you can blindly choose the new product of Suzuki.

    Surya.. :)

  207. Just want to add some more thing in this.

    1) The gear shifting system and all very smooth (before driving this I drove all the bikes) one, its like cutting the butter :)

    2) The LCD display which will attract all the people also the time display in it worthfull.

    3) willnot get back pain

Before buying this, am also have some doubts and queries. But now NO worries. I Love my bike.

guys who owning enjoy the ride, who are planning to buy Just drive and enjoy B-) :) ;)

  208. hai guys iam planing to buy suzuki gs150r by ths week i like to know the top speed of ths bike if any one tried really

  209. I rode it 110 km/h on highway.

  210. well people r always abt pick up of de bikes…let me clear u …suzuki gs has gr8 initial pick uponly not a mid range n high range pickup like of yzfr15..they says they ve reached 117kmph in gs150r bt i ve done 119kmph in fz16 118kmph in p150 n 115 ik ph in unicorn ,,no need of 6th gear n power mod for these bikes…suzuki fucks n its design is sporty bt too ugly kindaa

  211. for me cbz xtreme is gr8 bike ..i reached cbz xtreme o to 100kmph sprint in jus 12 seconds n i ve reached 118kmph in it..i love this superb pickup in o to 100kmph segment can competee wid p180

  212. warnin clutch plate of pulsar r very poor..not durable…if want gr8 pick up then relase ur clutch at 7000rpm frm stopping position n continiously change gear aftr 9000rpm n lean down in 5th gear aftr sometime u ll see ur speed 115kmph above dude

  213. wait unicorn is commin in 175cc segment…with back footrest n 3pcs handle not 2pcs…5th gear mannual ..n unbreakeble 16.5bhp n engineer has flashed out tat its pick up is very difficult to handle upto 2nd gear..0 to 60 in 4seconds n 0 to 100 lessthan 10secs wid topspeed of 128kmph by commuter..hop it ll come soon..unicorn real sport 175cbf

  214. This is to Draggers- Either u dnt have any knowledge on bikes or u want to prove that ur bike is the best.. FYI Suzuki GS 150 is now a succesful bike. its been exactly 1 yrs since this has been launched and its picked up very well in the entire country and people r happy. i have driven arnd 13,000 KM. Pick up is awesome, only less that FZ and Apache RTR. better than P150 and unicorn. FZ lacks power in 3th and 4th gear. But GS does well always.. FYI again, most of the guys do not know the importance of 6th gear and talk utter non sense. Gear is just not for speed. U can ride a bike at the speed of 30 km/hr in 1st gear and the same speed in 3rd gear. the difference is the RPM. Once the gear is increased, the RPM reduces. So more acceleration can be given, hence the speed can also be increased. less RPM also means less fuel consumtion.
GS has the best mileage in 150 segment and believe me guys, its very consistent.
No problems.. Design is cool for riders.. Very ergonomic.. so no backaches.. looks is an individual choice..
BTW r u sure unicorn went till 115 km/hr and not 116 or 117 km/hr?? it has analogue speedometer.. just check that out again dude…
