Suzuki GS150R features, specifications and photographs

Suzuki Motorcycle had launched the all new GS150R in India on the 23rd of October (press release of the launch), it is latest entrant in the very competitive 150cc segment and brings to the table a fresh look and a new 150cc four stroke engine with six gears (the only motorcycle in India to support it after the Yamaha R15 and RD350).

Suzuki GS150R Features:

150cc Engine with a new design: The 150cc engine of GS150R has been designed with a focus on acceleration performance in the low-to-mid range speed, which is most important in city riding. This ensures that you always enjoy a smooth, comfortable ride with the new Suzuki GS150R.

Engine balancer technology: In other motorcycles, vibration generated from inside the engine by the vertical motion (inertial force) of the piston and rotating motion (centrifugal force) of the crankshaft, is transmitted through the handlebars, seat and footpegs to the rider. The engine balancer technology in Suzuki GS150R seeks to minimize such vibration in order to deliver a more comfortable riding experience. Moreover, the balancer system is quipped with balancer-driven gear fitted with a rubber damper for reducing the impact noise generated by its meshing with the balancer-driven- gear.

Digital Speedometer with dual modes: Presenting the world’s first eco-mode-equipped rpm indicator. The unique GSX-R-inspired engine rpm indicator glows to give an indication to the rider about the optimum up-shift timings. The latest unit features a new, selectable two-mode (Eco & Power) function to cater to a wide range of riding needs and conditions.

Sporty Style Headlight: The stunning powerful headlight of GS150R with built-in positioning light is inspired from Suzuki’s international Superbike GSX-R. it has been designed to give GS150R a very distinct look.

LED Tail Lamp & Integrated Rear Turn Signal: The super-sleek, streamlined aerodynamic shaped LED tail lamp and integrated rear turn signals based on the styling of GSX-R takes the style quotient to the next level.

their is some thing is missing in looks like upcoming bike..

also they have to increase the POWER.
    like bhp is to less.
    Thanku

  2. Hi Kshirod, Yes. Obviously. Its an 150 cc bike. It does have Self Starter.

  3. Thanks blr_guy

  4. Hi Guys,

I am from Chennai-Tamilnadu. Planning to buy new bike. But got confusion that which bike to buy, among the below

    1) Suzuki GS150R
    2) Unicorn
    3) Pulsar

Ple suggest which 150CC bike to buy and + and – of that one.

  5. hey surya go for suzuki itself since it is a time tested company…u will get long term happyness from it
on the other hand unicorn is undoubtedly a good bike..but it is not having digital read out and it has monosuspension….hence,…
Pulsar is popular bike which will give consistent milage and pick up is good in it ..
BUT IF U WANT SMOOTH DRIVING AND STABILITY AT HIGHER SPEEDS GO for 150R!…its good..it is ideal for long drive among all the 150 cc bikes…

  6. Thx Abiman.

But i heard that Suzuki 150R has some failures and engine sound wil become worse day by day, and some negative comments about the Suzuki made me dilema and more confusion. Can u explain more details and postive of Suzuki 150R . But i like the bike 150R very very much

  7. No man it doesnt have failures and all….it has a very good engine and mileage is also quite good….but the thing is this bike is lot bigger than the other 150cc bikes…it is suited for tall fellows(in the sense u must be atleast 5.8)..otherwise the bike is really good and stable…i dont see any defects in this bike man..
And if u dont want to buy this bike Go for unicorn only its a nice bike..

  8. tak tak sounds is the sound of cylensor pipe ,when the engine stoped it cools itself by making sound tak tak, it is no defect its the sond of high cooling power.

  9. dear friends am looking to purchase a new bike this new year can any body mail me who is using the bike from one year i need the detail performance and comfortable, handling, millage of the bike suzukigs150r is it good compared to unicorn

  10. am looking to purchase a new bike this new year pl guide me about suzuki gs 150r by mailing to my address raghav03@gmail.com

  11. Raghav, go for suzuki, I am using it for more then 2000k.m. Milage is around 60-65 in highway & city. But my observation is if you want a 100% performance from bike always keep atlist 10 litter of petrol in tank.

  12. Hi Rajesh, Does it make difference if there is more petrol in the tank. I usually fill in for 300 rs every time. Even I brought my GS in the first lot in Bangalore when it was launched. Its an awesome bike. One of my friend too brought last month.

  13. Yes, you will get a good pulling power. You can check it out yourself, just run your bike in reserve for 1/2 days and then fillup the tank, you will get the differance.

  14. Raghav.. My advise is go for this bike since i drove 3400 ODO and impressed with its performance, i surely say its a communter bike for all class like student, professionals and family.. I work for embassy i can own a car but in Delhi trafic car is not helps to reach in time. If you dislike then only choice is Unicorn.. but it lacks many + of GS150… Suzuki engine is always trust worthy.. I had Samurai and Ind-Suzuki (1988) of my uncle. Still it gives pleasure drive.. Then take about Max 100 R… all these aresuzuki versons not TVS. After TVS manufactured this the life is only 40000 Kms. After tt it produces engine sound.

Also another most important thing is any bike 1st initial 3000 kms go with avg throttle speed of abt 40-55km/h. This gives engine steady.. Go for along ride with this and feel how it is?

  15. Satheesh, I had Suzuki Samurai 98 model. I have used it for almost 11 years before buying my GS. Its absolutely a Problem free bike as stated by suzuki. Abslutely low maintenance. Wonderful bike. Suzuki are known for their Engines and durability. Suzuki Shogun, Shaolin, Samurai, Ind suzuki and also max 100. Its a pleasure to ride 2 stroke bikes.

  16. hi my self raghav, planing to buy this bike in jan 1st of 2010 am just 5.4 tall , will this bike suits for me , how about comfortable and handling in the city limits and curve , u turn , i use 80 to 90 percent in the city limits ly pl advice , my mail adress is raghav033@gmail.com.

  17. Its a cool bike. It looks too good. I purchased it today. looks good to me right of now. well will satisfy me further.
If anybody can tell me about the average they r getting in city and on highways?

  18. Ajinkya the bike will satisfy u in the long run but do take care of it properly give some speed fluctuations within the speed of 65 kmph until u complete 1500 kms…
once i got a high way mileage of 55 wen i had been on a long tour,,,otherwise in the city limits u will get 45-46 as usual nothing special….but the mileage is directly proportional to quality of engine oil and filter u use….

  19. Hey raaghav dont go for this bike because of ur height……apache is best suited for ur height i guess….no offence :-)

  20. hi Abhiman, i agree that apache suits to my height but it vibrates more at 60 to 70 which i dont like , how about fzs, i tried fz16 in city for an hour of my friends bike i felt slight shoulder pain and apart from this full comfortable the sudden breaking at high speed was good , can u plz explain me why suzuki gs 150r is not suitable for my height bcoz i like this very much and confused to buy and pl any body tell about breaking at high speed .pl help me out in deciding before new year bcoz i planed to buy for this new year

  21. dude in this bike actually seating is quite a bit higher
and if u liked it then go for it without any hesitation…..
i guess u have taken the test drive…
FZ is not good man its mileage is awful…

  22. thanks Abhiman i tried test drive long back but i felt very pleasent drive and can u pl tel me about sudden brake at heigh speed . bcoz i felt skid in many bikes other than fz bcoz of broad tyre and for me 35 millage is ok then to i liked gs 150 so pl tell some thing about sudden brake in gs 150r

  23. dude the fact is FZ is a premium 150 cc bike so braking system is good in that…and i too felt the same wen i went for a test drive on it
if u want only mileage of 35, then go to fazer itself its the best looking bike in 150 cc segment and it is suitable for ur height also:-)

  24. hi,
I am Ragesh from Chennai, I had a test drive of gs150r and it is the best but we can find very few people using the bikes from Suzuki company and I enquired with the people who are using the bike from there side the reply was about your service it is very bad for example my friend Mr.Srinivansan had a problem with the service center at ABT service centre in Chennai. every customer is a free add for the company if he is satisfied than 100% that company will get a business through the same customer only due to your bad service you are going to lose your customer so please take care of your service centre

  25. i PREDICTED AN YEAR AGO THAT IT WILL FOLLOW uNICORN IN GRAVEYARD AND YES TODAY SUZUKI IS NOWHERE IN MOTORCYCLES DUE TO DEFECTICE ENGINES GEARBOX,DESIGN, AMD LOW MILEAGE OF 30 KMPL IN CITY ,SO THEY ARE USING PRODUCTION LINES TO PRODUCE THAT 125CC SHIT PLASTIC SCCOTER FOR WHICH THERE IS NO COMPETITION EXCEPT FROM ANOTHER PLASTIC TOY WORTHLESS DIO
SUZUKI NEXT YEAR WILL REMEMBERED FOR OBITUARY OF ALL TWO WHEELED MODELS WHEN TVS MAKES PRESENCE WITH 150CC METAL SCOOTERS AND SR150 WATER COOLED ENGINES MOTORCYCLES.OSAMA SOON WILL BE HISTORY IN INDIA AND EUROPE

  26. Safe_Rider says:

Hey Dean, You have mentioned the unicorn will follow the Graveyard. Have you rode the GS or Unicorn. Both are best in its class for Comfort and smoothness. The TVS doesn’t come any where near its smoothness or comfort. Take Apache. Good pickup. no comfort and lots of vibrations. TVS engine. You can feel it after 2 or 3 years.
Ask any GS or Unicorn Owners. They love their vehicles.
Which bike are you saying that it has defective engines , gearbox etc…. The suzuki engines are famous for their reliability.
The Honda Activa sales completely came down when the Suzuki Access had launched. Have you test rided it or just assuming. Even access is a good vehicle.

  27. To dean,
What is wrong with you dude? Not only did you mention suzuki but honda also. I was sceptical of suzuki since everyone was praising the bike as the best even smoother than honda. I didnt believe till i test drove it. Now Im riding with it for 2 weeks. No problem so far and engine is getting smoother and smoother. Initially the gear shifting was a lil hard but its butter smooth now. And wats wrong with plastic. Do you even know why they add plastic, its to reduce the overall weight and hence the mileage. Saying absurd things loud wont make it all truth. Either you are obssessed or damn jealous

  28. i love ma bike.. bought it on 25th may n rided 3500 kms so far..

just have a question which petrol is good for my bike.. speed? power? unleaded?..

  29. Hii Amit,
I asked the same to my service centre they asked to fill with the regular available as they have tuned for it. Dont know much but from xBHP and other forums they also mentioned the regular one. One of my friend who is using unicorn even had to change the carburator since he was using different kind of petrol every time. His mechanic said to avoid high octanes. Just a suggestion

  30. Hi Amit, Even my Service Center person told me that Speed or High Octane petrols makes difference only in High end bikes like more than 500 cc bikes. I just just Normal Petrol. I usually put petrol only from Shell Petrol pumps. Very rarely I put petrol for other petrol pumps only on Emergency.

  31. I’m planning to buy a new bike of 150cc range .. I’m planning to choose TVS Appache RTRFi 160 , Suzuki GS 150r , Honda Unicorn … so please guide me … also tell me about their milage …. My mail id is- sagar.chauhan@rocketmail.com

  32. I own Unicorn for past 5 years and I am really very much satisfied with its performance (speed, mileage, comfort, smoothness), now I like to change my vehicle, after test drive I find GS150R is nearly equivalent to Unicorn, but on the engine sounds entirely different when the speed limit cross 90Kmph, whereas in Unicorn I experienced even at 105Kmph the engine is as same and smooth

As I give very much importance to engine sound and smoothness at all speeds, can anyone suggest me which will be the best(Unicorn or GS150R)

  33. bike of the year

hey guys, I bought it (25may 2009) when nobody knows it in kolhapur. I tested & short-listed from atleast 6 brands n 12 models, now im happy to know dat SuzukiGS150R is BIKE OF DA YEAR. Now I’m watching many on roads.

    CONGRATULATIONS U ALL BUDDY.

    HAPPY RIDING SuuzZzuuuuuuuuuuumm >>>>>>>>> :-)

  34. To Naresh
Buddy why are you going for the same 150 CC segment, i own a GS150. I too wanted to have a unicorn but bought GS as it seemed so similar and had wonderful reviews. Honda engines seems to get better and better and no one will think about replacing them. My GS is still goin through its running in period, but honda seemed to be a little more refined than Suzuki in engine smoothness. In terms of riding comfort GS is better than Honda. Even though suzuki seems to be little rough its mileage is greater than honda by atleast 5 kmpl .

  35. I was planin to buy a bike in 150 segment from last 1 month. and i m serchin for the best packeg in all . i went to all the showroom in delhi n now i have boked gs 150 r . i have taken test ride of all the bikes, n i strongly feel that susuki is givin the best comfortable bike. n the powe of bike is good in city limits..

  36. @ shiraz
Thats a nice choice buddy, take care of her and she wont let you down.

  37. I had purchase Suzuki GS150R on 24 Sept.2009.This bike is nice & speedy & it really gives me 58km/ltr in both modes in highway and in city roads it gives 60km/ltr if u decrease the use of brake. Its power mode is may be equal to pulsar 220 according to my view of driving. So, if anyone wants to purchase a new bike in 150cc segment pls go for Suzuki 150R.

  38. Good Choice guys. I was one of the Customers who brought Gs 150 on the day the Product was launched in Bangalore. Initially only 20 vehicles from Each showroom was launched from a three star hotel in Bangalore. The product launch party was good. Now a days I do see a lot of GS in bangalore.

  39. hey i request pl coment on sudden break at heigh speed of gs 150 r

  40. hey raghav its a nice question about gs 150r but ya it skids if u use rear brake at a time & doesn’t use both brakes. If u use both brakes at a time it’ll really stop but takes some feet’s to stop.Nearby 5-10 by using both brakes.

  41. hey guys , i received this bike on 25 jan, on 2nd when I slow down the speed , bikes gets off suddenly, i am very much upset ya…is this bigger problem..??

    else bike is good.

    plez help me..

  42. hey rohit, dont worry at all.. just adjust the idling.. dats it.

  43. @ Rohit adjust idling rpm to 1400. Before setting it ride it for some minutes to warm the engine say a 10 min ride. The adjust the knob to 1400. On cold start the rpm will be low (@1100rpm)but will increase once the engine gets warmer.

  45. Today, i Drove this bike and within two days i am going to get the metallic gery colored one………. It is really superb, excellent bike that i have ever rode. I never fall in love with any of the bike till now what ever i rode. In that case i was trying to adjust with Unicorn — that is a fair one but this has no comparison, Previously i was thinking whether is it really as good as Unicorn but now i think there is no comparison only. Don’t go by public opinion go personally to the showroom have a test drive and dam sure IT WILL DRIVE U CRAZY………..

GET IT AND ENJOY IT. THERE IS NO MATCH………

  46. Can anybody say among the two color Dark blue and gray metallic, Which is looking better??? I am confused!!! The showroom here has all the color except gray metallic. I have already ruled out orange and black color but i haven’t seen the gray metallic color one. So, anyone can suggest me among these two color which looks better???

    GRAY METALLIC OR DARK BLUE?????

pLZZZZZZZZZZZZ Reply as soon as possible……

  47. GREY METALLIC

  48. Grey Metallic, The blue colour is really bad. YOu can see only 5 in 50 vehicles. The Grey is Very good.

  49. Thanks for all of your valuable suggestion. I am going for the Grey metallic one……….
