TVS Apache RTR 180 (Menace)
Written by: Yogesh April 18th, 2009TVS Motors is planning to introduce the 180cc variant of TVS Apache, called the TVS Apache RTR 180 (Menace).
The 180cc variant of TVS Apache RTR would produce 17.3ps of power and 16.5Nm of torque and is expected to take on the Bajaj Pulsar 200 DTSi and Hero Honda Karizma. While there is no word as of yet on the launch date, with the promotional video already leaked on the internet, we expect it to be pretty soon.

We too would have liked to see it enhanced cosmetically as well, at least to set it apart from the 160. But then again, it hasn’t yet been launched and who knows, TVS might decide to do a bit of last minute tweaking.

bajaj is all about classsssssssssssssssssssssssssssss ………….it doesnt produce any 100 cc bike,,,it had set al its effort to produce the cobra,whic is a 500cc monster fronm bajaj………………………
Pulsar is the most kooda bike i have ever seen. RTR is far better than any model of the pulsar, at least their product’s are of much better quality than bajaj. and this new RTR 180 will kick the sh*t out if pulsar. And dont forget Yamaha who is grabbing the indian market like anything, be it FZ 16 or R15 and everyone just watch out for the new fazer 150, after all Yamaha is the Big Boss of biking world!
hwy RTR series of bikes has a excellent pick up n can challenge bajaj but please dudes change d Forks n d front for RTR 180 because d RTR 160 forks s week n it’s difficult 2 perform a endo!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dudes are busy with TVS toys… Dont try 2 compare Bajaj Pulsar series and Yamaha with toy bike like apache…low speed, weak frock, poor handling, very short length, less feature and NO IMPROVEMENT of NEW TECHNOLOGIES for any TVS bike… How people can compare TVS toys with others POWERful road kings….
RTR 180 is out in chennai….i’ve just nw given it a test ride….its one heck of a bike….better than ny 180cc i’ve ever ridden….its gonna kick the ass of p180 nd p200 nd also fz….rtr 180 is too good to be true…dont miss this one guys….its a white stallion…..
What are you all guys fighting for? For me TVS and Bajaj both are world class companies. I had TVS Suzuki Shaolin 140 CC two stroke bike in past and it was awesome bike after that I had Bajaj Pulsar 180 right from the day it was launch till Nov 2008. Now I’m gonna buy TVS RTR 180. Both these companies have take on head on battle against Japanies companies like HONDA, YAMAHA, SUZUKI, KAWASAKI with the initial help from these companies and Now they are developing their own bikes. Pulsar and Apache were their own babies. I feel proud for these both companies and I’m glad that they have bigger market share against Japanies companies.
You may own TVS or Bajaj bike dont fight feel proud for owing Indian bike! Your hated comments cannot stop TVS or Bajaj from prducing bikes not it can stop anyone from buying bikes.

Hi, I bought Apache RTR Refresh last week, On an avg in Bangalore city it gives mileage of 45kmph.. Before buying, i had two options RTR & FZ16.. I hate FZ16 for its looks, I felt lil ackward with bike, and when u cross 60kmph speed, it really struggles, yamaha has done blunder by makin its tires so big.. it cant match the pickup n power of its legacy rx100 or 135..
Ever since i bought RTR i started enjoyin my 30kms commuting to office.. Its a pleasure to drive, great handling, pickup, power, decent mileage.. i wud suggest every youth to gift yourself a RTR… its now or never

I took a test ride of this bike 3 days back and it was really impressive. but the only thing i was disappointed with was the absence of FI in this one when its previous version had. Also i think TVS could have made this bike more sportier by having the foot pegs position a little behind than its actually is to give a more aporty feel to the rider. Overall a nice powerfull bike!
fk off bajaj guys… dis bike iz going 2 smash out ur 180 lead… get ready 4 blast.. and 4 those who r saying “tvs iz a kid” … i think u should go 2 some driving skoool 2 learn why r d virtues off 2ru biking… get off d roads damn bjajrs

All those who prefer the pulsar over the apache’s are dumbos,and have no mind. Dont they see even apache 150 defeating even pulsar 200,apache 160 reaching a top speed of 154 KMPH.Which even pulsar 220 cannot rech.Now its turn of the apache 180 .Now imagine yourself about this bike.You won’t agree with me,so go and check out videos on youtube
I am confused really guys between Apache 180 and Yamaha Frazer i need Pure power and overtaking all my friends have got 300cc bikes so i want to match them they are Big Baap ka Betas with imported bikes so i want to jack them on Indian roads so they Recommend me Frazer and R 1 but i don’t know i am attracted to Apache 180 my Heart tell to got for it so what do you Recommend which can match the other power bikes
@Goutham- Hey buddy, if you are looking for more power then Apache RTR 180 is more powerful than Fazer 150. But if you want to match your friends who have 300cc imprted bikes then im afriad none of the indian bikes would be able to help you in that front.
When you say R1 do you mean R15? coz R1 is 1000cc super bike so im not sure if thats what you are looking for when on the other side you are talking about Apache RTR 180.
DONT COMPARE TVS APACHE RTR SERIES WITH BAJAJ/HONDA/HERO HONDA/YAHAMA. EVEN BAJAJ PULSAR 200cc CANT BEAT RTR 160.

Hey Sameer- I agree that RTR series is very good but let me tell you that it still cant beat Yamaha R15.
lol!!! bajaj is the marketing king….(ek rupee mein do lelo kinda stuff)..p220 may be the fastest but for how long…the engine starts leaking within a year…bajaj bike are more like the chinese items which u get in the 49-99 shop…use and throw…tvs has a amazing racing department and rtr is made by them..talking about r15 vs rtr 180…rtr is more fast on acceleration but r15’s top speed is more…and yes liquid cooled is very nice….not like the shitty oil cooled nonsense which u can expect from only bajaj…its a bike for god sake not a rickshaw…bajaj should only manufacture rickshaws,fans and household app which they are good at.even the honda eterno ate their scooter market…bloody loosers.

rtr 180 have a top speed of 125 kmph. tvs is gaining attention firmly.

apache 180 is a good bike, i own one and i’m really impreseed with it… i’d never even thought that tvs have improved so much… i suggest anyone who is looking forward to buy this bike to do so eyes closed… its the best, it gives an average of 44…

i m here 2 say only that in dec 2009 i m going 2 buy a bike 1st time so that’s y i was studying diffrent views of diffrent users of diff kind of bikes. N i m intrest 2 buy at least 180cc bikes, but im bit preplaxed in myself about bajaj pulsar n apace rtr180 menace.
Is there smone 2 help me 4 have a good machine i.e. power,average,less maintenance and look. After a lot of study of diffrent views i m convinced with apace n other side i like more the attractive model of apace.

hi guys i bought two bikes one for me im 19 doing my engineering 2nd year and one for my bro who s 18 doing his 1st year engineering in two different colleges of bangalore i bought the bikes recently in oct 2009 after lot of surveys where i needed a bike which has power,looks and affordable mileage at around 37-42 after all i test rided 13 bikes 0f 150 – 180 cc class and then stuck to two bikes i.e. tvs apache rtr 180 and the beast of indian market bajaj pulsar 180 2009 as i use both the bikes one day i take apache the other day pulsar so by my experience i wrote this comment pulsar provides 17.02 ps power and apache 180 provides 17.3 ps therefore apache is a bit more powerful than pulsar and apache has a better torque when compared to pulsar which is better for city rides…… whereas at high speeds 110+ pulsar has better road grip than apache as it has mrf zapper tubeless whwereas apache has got tvs tyres which has bad road grip pulsar being heavier has better stability on road apache being lighter is hard to control at high speeds apache ’s height is very less compared to pulsar it s like a 125 cc bike that way the advantage in apache is that it s got rear disc brake but what s the use the tyre also must be solid right to withstand that effective breaking….. pulsar 180 is without kick start it s awesome to look at and don’t worry u wont run out of battery as it is 600w and almost equal to maruthi 800 s 1200w as this is a bike for this the battery is more than enough pulsar s suspension lasts longer and has wider front forks for better handling in turns one more disadvantage with apache is that it s rear seat is very small making it uncomfortable for the person sitting at back whereas pulsar has got split seats so more comfortable to sit at the back my pulsar 180 is givin me a mileage of 38-40 in hard bangalore city traffic conditions of bangalore and also mind i rip a lot and apache is giving me a mileage of 34-36 for the same type of ride so guess this is the single regular user stats of the bikes pulsar is better for mileage also and also note pulsar 180cc 2009 looks same as p200 and bajaj is in the 180cc segment for a decade or so nearly so i suggest u ll to go for pulsar 180 rather than apache rtr 180 and guys for stunts pulsar 180 is way better i rate pulsar-9/10 and apache-8/10
rohith, nice comments, this is the type of comments I was looking for, you can compere both because you have driven both of them for the same time. But, let me know something, what would you say if you replace the stock RTR 180 TVS tyre for a Michelin PilotSport for example?? I do like RTR far more than Pulsar, but I am very impartial, so I’ll like to know what do you think about changing rear tyre.
