Ducati officially planning to come to India

While Ducati Motorcycles have been available in India since 2008, till now they have been sold and serviced by Precision Motor, who until now was Ducati’s official importer and distributor in India.

Now Ducati Motor Holding is planning to officially enter Indian Motorcycle Market and establish its own distribution network. Precision Motor on the other hand will continue to sell Ducatis in selection locations in India and will continue to provide customer care, until Ducati establishes its own distribution network.

Outlining Ducati’s plan for India, Cristiano Silei, Vice President Sales and Marketing of Ducati, said: “We consider India an extremely important part of Ducati’s future global strategy and will strengthen our presence in the market with premium services and a larger network that will be in line with our global standards. Our entry into the Indian market is therefore a first step in this direction.”

By establishing its own presence in India, Ducati ought to be able to provide superior customer care to its customers and expand its presence in India; especially since the premium motorcycle segment in India is going by leaps and bounds and is becoming extremely hard for any motorcycle company to ignore.

Of course we would love to see Ducati eventually manufacturing or at least assembling its motorcycles in India, which would lead to lower price for the Indian consumer and wider customer base for Ducati.
