Suzuki to launch “affordable” superbike

Suzuki Motorcycle India is planning to launch a more “affordable” superbike in India, called Gladius.

The 645cc V-Twin Gladius is sold for US$ 6899 in US, and if and when it comes to India, it would likely be priced at around 7-8 lakh rupees and would provide its owner with a fun weekend/touring motorcycle with plenty of punch for majority of the occasions.

While a price tag of 7-8 lakh rupees would still be out of reach of majority of motorcycle enthusiasts in India, we feel it is a step in the right direction, to make these motorcycles more affordable and hopefully pave the way for ultimately manufacturing of high capacity motorcycles in India. Which is essential in bringing down the cost of these superbikes, since almost half of the cost of a superbike is tax/duty which a company must pay to Indian government.
